Demoted and paycut…

So I work nights, and had an opportunity come my way, but I need to move to day shift and will still require the job… So I put in my request.. I was told over the past week and a half my move to days was being organized, management was on it working with scheduling, and they had it set til mid Aug, covering sick leaves and what not and hopefully by then a full time day opens up… Had a meeting Wednesday about this, and there is no day position for me, there is someone in line ahead of me for such position, and they asked when my last day would be…. They had an internal job posting for my position that ended Monday and Wednesday this happens? They strung me along till they found a replacement and I didn't quit….but they are still trying to make me.. Just…

What is with Companies feeling entitled to the usage of our phones and personal time?

Just started a new job today. They are already trying bully me into putting outlook and teams on my personal phone stating “what happens if we need you after you have left the office?”. My response was “you can wait until the next business day. I work from 8am to 5pm, there is no need to contact me after hours. I stated in both my interviews that work/life balance is important to me. Furthermore, this is my personal device which is I pay for. I will not be adding company apps or programs to it” . The HR lady goes “that may be a problem”. I just shrugged my shoulders. I dont live to work. I only work to pay bills nothing more, nothing less. Rights as a contractor in Canada

Working remotely as a contractor for a Canadian company. My 1-1s with my boss/CTO turn into him unfairly venting about me and trying to shit on my work. The CEO I was acquaintances with before starting this job, though I haven't talked to him since starting. One concern I have is that they are treating me like an employee. For example they will have specific times that they say I need to be online. Or they will say things like 'for today even if it is late for you, you have to spend 3 hours from 8-11 PM to get this work done'. Also, I want to stop having 1-1 calls with the CTO. They are pointless because he is an asshole, and also there's the additional downside of not having what he says written down. If he says shit to me, I want it to be in writing, so…

Anybody’s work switch from PTO to DTO(Discretionary)? Mine just did.

What has been your experience? They said we are forfeiting all are accumulated PTO. I had 180 hours. Sounds like BS to me.
