Return to work – Australia

Hi everyone I 28M, earlier this year had a breakdown after being touched inappropriately at work, not sexually, but in a way that affected me quite badly tl:dr February ‘24 upper manager ran his hands through my hair when I was not aware of anyone behind me, and made an offhand comment, felt very singled out and it made me super anxious, apology was a “sorry you took it this way I meant it this way” and was done over the phone, this obviously was not good enough for me and I felt disrespected as an employee that he couldn’t face me in person , I took it to HR which didn’t help at all And so I spiralled and had close to 4 months of unpaid leave I returned yesterday under a sort of “supervised” agreement, where I am working 5 hour shifts for the first 3 weeks to…

Geofencing/ location tracking

My work recently implemented geofencing through the paycom app. It supposedly tracks our location while we are clocked in so I’m wondering if my employer can tell if I leave work without clocking out even if turn my location services off. Or will my employer be notified that I turned my location off.

There’s this scene in Spongebob where Plankton screams “I went to college” when he’s defeated. I have full context for that scene now and I hate that

You get told “Go to college” and you'll have the opportunity to make money and become anything. In the end, you work at the Chum Bucket, envying the more successful. Come to think of it, Mr. Krabs is so successful because he exploits the hell outta his workers. Every situation, he found a way to make money from it.

Called out issues, about to be fired.

Started a new job as a warehouse manager, after my first week I shared with the GM a few observations. He did not take any of them in a good way and told me that if everything I had for him was negative points, I may not be the right fit after all. Most of the observations were safety issues and waste of labor. Forklift drivers with earphones Forks tilted Forklifts parked anywhere Drivers don't use the horn Workers clock in and then go grab coffee before start working Managers are casanovas Workers vaping everywhere People watching Netflix Managers don't know their headcount I offered solutions but He cut me off. Lmao, I was like, what did I get into? I know they will fire me over this. I am already looking for another job.

What’s your opinion on working for a local/family owned business? Advice?

Backstory: I have career retail experience in a well known, high volume, very popular boutique/gift store, Corporate Owned, approx 15 years. 2 years ago I quit to pursue a field I was more passionate about, horticultural, daily care of houseplants, not at all retail but customer facing. Present: I've interviewed for a position as upper management for a locally well known Nursury/plant store/garden center. Family owned and in business for 71 years. I would be one of 5 senior managers with only the general manager and owner above me. My concerns/questions: I haven't heard great things about family owned businesses and have concerns it will be emotionally tumultuous, Drama filled, and lacking the higher end support. What are your thoughts on working family owned, positive? Negative? Pros and cons? Thanks!

Short notice bull shit

So I work nights as security. 4 on 4 off. Been with the company for about 7 months. It’s easy money but it’s nights on your own for 12 hours. So I get this message from my manager. Telling me I’m booked on a first aid course next week. He tells me on Wednesday for a course on Monday. Less than a weeks notice for a course on my days off. Pissed off is not the word atm. Think it’s time to look for a new job

Work/Life Balance Red Flag

I was contacted by this company on Indeed on Wednesday. The recruiter asked if I was available on Saturday or Monday. They do not offer morning interviews, it was explained. I told her I was available Monday. At 8:18 pm on Sunday the recruiter replied offering an interview Monday afternoon, in person, no other options and no rescheduling. This is an hour drive from my house, with no other option as to when, and I get this message Sunday night. I don't respond to work communications unless it is an emergency, and I don't even work here yet, so I don't feel it's reasonable to expect I would see this prior to Monday morning. Is it concerning, or should it be, that after theee days of silence I'm offered this in this fashion?
