The cure to burnout is well known. It’s time off, time away from the thing you burned yourself out on. I think intuitively we know it takes time to truly recover and be ready to return to work and not be miserable I looked online for how long it takes to recover from burnout, and the lowest number I saw was 30 days, where they stated it was ambitious and unrealistic to expect, but still possible. The higher numbers were in the range of years. The most common number seemed to be 3-6 months We only have 11 mandated vacation days per year in America. The average is 17 days. Only 6% of workers get 30+ days So imagine you’re working really hard towards some goal early in your career to make a name for yourself and get ahead. By the end of it, chances are you’re terribly burned out.…
How about no….
Hi all, today I forgot my badge at home, so couldnt clock in, and I told my boss. Nothing happened until I already worked for an hour and a half, where they told me I had to go home and get it (1h round trip). They told me I will not be getting paid for the time I already worked before going back to get my badge. Keep in mind we literally have slips that can be signed to override the actual clock in/out time, which I used in the first week of working there before I had a badge. This looks like blatant wage theft to me. Im in Oklahoma which doesnt have great labor laws, so what can I do about this? Edit: went to the next person up the chain and got it resolved. I almost didnt because its only an hour and a half but it…
Back in 2003 I worked for a warranty company that sold policies through Circuit City, yes that one that is no longer around, yes I’m old. I was only there for a few months, went through a 3 week training program, exited as one of the top people coming out. I was awarded Blackhawks tickets for superior work. We would stay after our shift if we were on a call. I lived 45 minutes away and if you know Chicago the travel times can vary greatly. I was reprimanded because I would show up 3 mins late, not to mention we would sometimes stay 15-30 minutes AFTER our shift. The end result is they lost an excellent agent and have to spend money to hire and train someone new all because of being a couple minutes late.
Terrible Orientation
Ever get a job where the orientation and first day is so unprofessional. Where you’re thrown into the lions den being prepared and unprepared at the same time with no training or guidance? Makes you want to leave? Tell me I’m not the only one. Let’s hear your story.
So, I hired this virtual assistant from the Philippines through this company and paid $2000 per month. She actually does a good job and I believe I'm getting my money's worth. Here's the thing though, she's going to be promoted and her replacement is going to be trained for a couple of weeks. I have some trust issues and I want her to stay as my VA, so I asked her if she's willing to stay if I just add like a monthly bonus, she declined so I pressed more as to why and how much does she get after getting promoted, and then she told me the truth, she only receives $500 from the $2000 I'm paying. This is insane! Like how and why? Is this normal in the Philippines? Like not even half? A few days later, after reading the contract for her promotion, she declined to sign…
Work for the NHS Managers want to cut corners, in other words do a “visual” check on equipment, (pass it if it looks OK) rather than a real test (hook stuff up and get correct safety readings) “OK, can we have these new instructions in writing” No, there is no need “Is it safe to do a just a visual check” Yes “Can we have that confirmed in writing please” No Surprise Surprise “Not doing just a “visual” check then “Angry management noises”
Ed Policy is son of San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns Executive Carmen Policy. Within 4 yrs of graduating college he was the Commissioner of AFL (2001-2008); over seeing it's collapse in 2008. Then golden parachuted to Greenbay Packers. All while having zero debt coming out of Notre Dame and Stanford Law. But, oohhh poor people, if you just stop ordering avocado toast and like work hard, you'd be able to get same opportunities! i Nepotism wins the day again.
