Didn’t know where to post this.

Been reflecting more on my most recent venture, and I still feel uneasy. Thought I'd pass it by Reddit to check myself. So here's some context. I work as a furniture finisher nowadays. I take pre-fabricated furniture, fix up the surface, and color it based on what the order is. If the stain comes out weird, or the topcoat goes tits up, very likely that I gotta invest even more time into undoing the work so far. In general, it's a lengthy task that demands either accurate execution or a lot of repetition. And now onto my worries. Furniture Store employs my services as a 1099 paid contractor. Originally advertised as a “full time position”. Everything is paid by piece, and upon delivery to the customer (of Furniture Store, delivery can be massively delayed). Furniture Store sets the price of finishing and determines the cost of supplies needed. If there's…

Should I talk to my supervisor about my coworker’s attitude towards me?

I started a job at a grocery store bakery 2 weeks ago. Everything's been smooth until yesterday when I met a new coworker. Let's call her A. A and I were scheduled to close together yesterday and after 4:30, everyone else left. Our supervisor told us to fill the cookie bar in our store. I asked if she how and they never trained her to. Cool. I did it myself, and it took me a while because it hadn't been filled in days. I took out our closing duties list and she didn't know how to do half the stuff on it. She said she's been closing by herself and never even known about the list. So I then trained her how to do a lot of it and did a lot myself. She's been at the store since 2019, but is new to bakery. Everytime I showed her how…

New job turned me down, so I’m still stuck at my crap job

Hey everyone, here is the latest update on my work situation. I've been posting on here over the last few weeks about my shitty situation at work, how I demoted myself, and more. I got an interview at this amazing place a couple of weeks ago and had multiple interviews, everyone that I spoke to, loved me and seemed enthusiastic to have me join. Then I went to the final interview and it all fell apart. From the moment the Zoom meeting started, this woman started coughing, hacking and sneezing. She seemed extremely rushed and didn't seem to even want to do the interview. Her questions were extremely short, so I gave my answer and elaborated more. However, her next question was already answered in my elaborated answer so I just kind of repeated what I had just said. This happened about 4 times over the course of the interview.…

I resigned!

I just want to say out loud that I quit my job! I just submitted my letter. One thing is that I quit without having another job offer, but I'm going to be okay because I can survive for awhile while getting a part time job. I just need a rest and change of direction in my career path. I don't mind getting another job with a lower salary. I just need a fresh restart. So far, every time I've told people that I wish to quit my job, they have told me that it is a big mistake. I felt like I'm stuck and I have continuously loosing will to continue my work/task. Every day I just sleep it off to escape work (I wfh). I have anxiety when I think about my work at this job, I have anxiety every time Sunday ends. I don't think it is…

Annual Review with no results

I had my annual review last week and met or exceeded expectations in all categories. For context I work for a commercial facility management corporation. Mainly tracking exterior maintenance for big box stores and the subcontractors preforming the work. (US) I expected the results I was given, I had been asking for a raise for the past 6 months. Our cost of insurance pretty much cancelled out my last raise, not to mention they have been adding duties to us, that were previously other people’s entire jobs. My argument was if they are expecting us to do our jobs plus everything else they have now added, we should be compensated for the heavier work load. Well they have now offered me a 0% increase because I have voiced my opinion with HR. Do I have any recourse in getting them to reconsider a pay increase?

new people are hired at $15.50. we earn $14.

there’s so many problems at this place it’s actually insane. i work at a coffee shop and i was hired at $14/hr and promised full time hours (which i do not receive.) checked indeed one day, saw the listing (a new one) and it says $15.50. i RAN to my paystubs and i still make $14. we just hired two new girls and they MAKE MORE. i’m still relatively new so i guess that’s fair? it’s unclear if i can even get a raise but someone who’s freshly starting out earns more then me? but not a single person has received a damn raise. my coworker has been there for over a year and he still earns $14!!!! like what? am i insane for being angry about this? we are not built for speed and efficiency and yet we were extremely busy in june/july. it was absolutely hell, especially on…

Is this contract sketchy or just annoying?

My manager handed me this in the middle of my work day and asked me to sign and give back by EOD. I told her before I left I didn’t have any down time to read it and I’d need to bring it back on Monday. She responded “okay I’ll make a note of that.” I texted 4 of my coworkers and not a single one received the same thing. For context, I’ve worked here for about 2 years and never had to sign anything similar except a non-compete in my hiring contract. I recently directed a program for the first time just last month, which is listed here but name is crossed out for privacy. I also crossed out the company name, but this is a very small, individually owned company that‘s only been open less than 15 years. I also got notice of a raise effective September just…

Actual Waste of Time

Applied for a Customer Service/Inside Sales position for a print shop yesterday and instantly got a call back from the owner to set up an interview. They must have liked that I had a good amount of experience with print shops and graphic design. I was excited because the pay was $18/hr which I've never had an opportunity for that amount of money at 22 years old. Today I went in and was told to ask for the owner for my interview. Waited 10 minutes only to be told the owner wasn't available and the two people up at the front end would be conducting the interview. I thought fine, whatever no big deal. They asked about my previous job experiences and how much I got paid, and then mentioned they didn't really know how to do interviews, so they handed me a stack of papers to full out. The…

Follow Up To My Department Head Publicly Calling Me Out

I made a post about 2 weeks ago regarding how my Department Head called me out in a practically company wide email. He tagged everyone important. The TLDR is DH called me out for not following a policy that was only implemented 2 weeks after I completed the job. And his email pretty much implied my subpar quality of work will cause us to lose an important client. Although my Director Supervisors immediately backed me up and handled the situation, I was still feeling bitter about the whole thing. I take great pride in my work. I eventually sent an email to DH asking him to address in the email chain that I didn't do anything wrong and got no response. So I made a post about it after a week. I was just gonna let it go after the email, but the response I got from this community empowered…
