When you finally try to leave teaching…
Well this was liberating
(Only concealing company because it would dox my location)
Fuck this job market
I have been 3 weeks unemployed and I am stressing the fuck out because not only do I have memberships to pay but I also have to pretend I am at work so my parents don't throw a fit at me for quitting without another lined up since I live at home but I am moving out soon and speaking of moving out I am supposed to get a mortgage this year to buy a house to live with my brother but I feel so stupid now quitting without another job lined up.
How I think commute time should be paid
Everyone is paid at their regular pay rate for the duration of the national average commute time or their regions commute time if it's tracked. If you are hybrid work, you are paid the commute time for every day you work, regardless if you work from home that day. Anything more than 1 work from the office day per 2 week period is considered hybrid. Any lunch or other break that is less than 2x the average commute plus 30 minutes is required to be paid. Having the commute pay be the same for everyone will prevent people from being fired or not hired in the first place if they live farther away from work. If you live closer, great for you; if you live farther, at least you're getting part of it covered. The hybrid workers being paid even when they work from home is to really make employers…
I can’t take corporate America anymore.
Whoever trick me to thinking that getting a marketing degree and working an office job would suck so much. They drain you, they make you stay positive because if you show any sense of burnout, it is bad and looks bad for the company. I yes from home, but have to work until past 5 a lot some weeks. I get paid enough to just get by and feel like all my time is dedicated to a company who would replace me in a second.
Wfh for 10k less?
I've received job offers for a 5 day 40 hour, 8-5, in office position. I've also received an offer that paid less than I wanted, but is fully remote. How much is working from home (or anywhere) worth? I think I'll sound silly leaning toward the lower paying job, but that work/life balance would be amazing!
