I’ve been working a corporate job for about 2 years now and I’m feeling super burnt out and overwhelmed. There’s just so much work piled on and you’re expected to work and not get any overtime to finish your tasks. It’s insane. But what’s one thing that irks you the most?
Month: August 2024
I work for this hotel and suddenly they decreased everyone's hours. They scheduled me 6 days x 5.30. I used to get 40+ before. I receive benefits and HR is trying to tell me that I can keep benefits even on part-time hours. Then she said if I want the min hours as a full-time, I will have to work 6 days. Meanwhile management expects everything to be done within 1 hour. We do breakfast buffet and the guests don't leave until 10:45am or so.
Exact words from communication about this below. 5 years or less: Will be scheduled shifts where the system determines the need is. 5 and 6 years: You'll be asked to provide a 2 hour timespan for your shift start time preference. The start time of your schedule will fall within the 2 hour timespan you indicate. 7 to 9 years: You'll be asked to provide a 1 hour timespan for your shift start time preference. The start time of your schedule will fall within the 1 hour timespan you indicate. 10 or more years: Will get their preferred shift.
I think they messed up my vacation days?
We used an old system called ADP where I previously submitted vacation days and got approved for the summer. We transitioned to a new system called Paycom and they asked us to resubmit our previous vacation days. I was hesitant because I thought this would take away from my current bank and it looks like it did. I tried asking first and explaining about it after the fact but whatever. I intend to bring it up at our next meeting
I started a new job after a couple of years of sick leave, undiagnosed ADHD that spiraled out of control. They wanted to give me a shot because I seemed cool and could fit in, this was as a chef at a restaurant but first we had to build the restaurant basically, clean out trash, move in new stuff etc. It all went quick and I didn't join a union right away and after 3 days the kitchen was ready to use and they called me after I got home instead of talking to me before I left for the day to say I wouldn't cut it, I busted my ass off with heavy lifting, cleaning and they saw me cook fast, efficient and with purpose. I felt used and that they only wanted me to help with the dirty work to get the kitchen ready but I don't know…
Paul Lafargue: “The Right to Be Lazy”
I am employed i. A health care job as a PA in the US where it is customary to give 3 months notice. I have signed a contract stating this. However, I am afraid if I give my notice, I will be let go. It takes 2-3 months to be credentialed to work in my profession. What could happen if I just give them 2 weeks? Can I be sued for patient abandonment?
How bad is making $13 an hour in 2024??
Put it in perspective. I currently make $13.50 this is the 2nd lowest paying job I’ve had out of 7 jobs in my lifetime. Leaving very soon, only have this job so I wouldn’t be dirt broke. Highest paying job I had was $17.50
Hi all. So back in April I received an offer from a company opening their first store in the state I live in with a clear start date in writing for the beginning of April. I was looking to leave my old job at the time for good reason (choosing not to list these). I left the job with the intention of having a couple days off in between jobs, but when I asked for a start time on my start day I was told there had been delays due to inspections and such, and the job was not going to be starting on the date they gave me. I began looking for other work to either fill the interim or just take the place of the aforementioned job offer when that happened, but have been unsuccessful thus far. They have given me other tentative start dates since, but they…
