I've been working as a “warehouse admin” for 2 years now and legit all I do is sit on a computer and wait for orders to come in. Then I print the orders and give them to the laborers. Then I wait for all the orders to get picked and print more. My job is so easy and takes so little time and could so easily be done remotely or automated, that I have lost all sense of self worth. There are two companies in this building, and there's someone who sits next to me who has the exact same job as me but for the other company. He just chats and eats all day and seems to have the time of his life. But I'm quiet and don't really like chatting, and I constantly feel guilty that I'm not doing enough work. And I can't learn certificates or whatever…

I’ve worked plenty of places with good or bad supervisors, but they always at a minimum taught me my job. This one takes the cake. I’ve been here four months now and still have only been taught the first portion of my job. Not only that but asking questions is pulling teeth. “Hey how do I do X?” “We aren’t there yet” yeah okay but my client is and we are already through all the stuff you have actually taught us (new hires) it’s that or she responds with one million clarifying questions that make you feel like you’re crazy. So yeah in short, looking for another job.

I know an employer who doesn't want to hire people with young children because he “doesn't want to deal with all of their bullshit” (i.e. taking off from work or being late because of their kids). Childless people don't need to take off ever…evidently. Such a strange take and I was just curious

I've been looking for a new job for a while, and I've been applying to pretty much all jobs in my area that's basically the same role/level as my previous one. However I will admit that my previous job was pretty easy, and for a lot of similar level roles, there are additional tasks/responsibilities that I didn't do and wouldn't know how to do without training. But after doing tons of interviews and submitting applications, I realized jobs don't seem to want to train candidates anymore. If you're missing even a single qualification or don't know how to do something, that has disqualified me from pretty much every job no matter how far in the interview process I get. Jobs aren't going to interview you in the first place if they didn't think you could do the job, so surely train the candidates who would otherwise be a perfect fit…

My company is switching over to Workday for clocking in and out and payroll stuff. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a sketchy app in terms of tracking and if it’s ok to have on my phone?

I need to vent rq. So, I graduated earlier this year, and like many others in the US, I struggled to find a job. By no means was I under qualified. I had a desirable degree with additional skills and trainings that put me leagues above my competition. Took me 6 months to gain employment. I tried being grateful for the opportunity. After all, I work for a well respected company that many claim to be more selective than Harvard for its employees. Last week, I was told to go through our extensive backlog of invoices. It’s not a part of my job description, but I’ve gotten used to doing things not in my job description. There will be a team building activity later on Saturday afternoon when everyone is off. It needs almost a halfday. I am one of the core member of the new team and probably need to go. I think there will be a high chance that my company will not provide any compensation leave for us. I just wonder what's the situation in other companies. I think this kind of activity is really ridiculous, we are not 10 years old who want to go to a summer camp to make friends. I come to make money. Besides we come from different departments, we won't even have any interaction with each others later on. I am also married. I can't even meet new girl or something. Completely waste of time.

So I shouldn't have to work. Right? Thoughts? I feel like something is off here and I'm getting cheated somehow.
