Month: August 2024
Without diving into specifics, I have worked for major media organizations, political candidates, and publicly traded companies with extreme expectations since I am 19 years old. I am 41, soon to be 42. Is it normal to want a simple job like delivering pizza to reset my mind?

The Emperors New Clothes (Update)
See the original post in my history I guess. Wanted to let folks know I found the list. Two years later FAILURES Disorganization – Fails/refuses to commit manpower to organization and maintenance of organization structures. Unpredictability – Temper tantrums. Yelling. Cursing. Throwing things. Ignorance – Refuses to educate self regarding tasks vital to the operation of the business. Gleefully refuses offers from staff who are willing to provide education. Poor Time Management – Constantly late or behind schedule. Interruptions- Constant interruption of staffs’ assigned tasks, disrupting staff focus, then complaining about errors or failure to meet deadlines. Absenteeism – Seldom spends time in the office and seldom informs staff where he is going and when he might return. Frequently MIA. Unable to maintain a set work schedule. Difficult to reach when project details are in question. Fails to comprehend that many questions require in-person inspection of the project in question.…
My boss complained yesterday that everyone in the office is “so eager to leave at 5,” when he previously stated he doesn’t mind us “packing up and getting gone by 5.” Can’t win for losing.
My boss literally just said because the client scheduled a meeting at 9 pm. No, I’m not making this up. These people are miserable.
My job can be scummy
I’m not gonna list all the things they do but what about this one……? I’m a linen delivery driver. We are commission at 9%, so we make our money for dropping the stuff off and picking it up. We’re off work on Wednesdays because our Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday are about 12 hour days. On Wednesdays they require us to attend a meeting. Are we out of luck on compensation for this meeting?
Notice and sick time
I am resigning gave more than the required notice in order for me to get my vacation time paid out. I have 19 hrs sick time but they told me if I call out sick they won’t pay me. Is that even legal ? I’m in NY
Quick background: I'll be 50 in a few months, live in a deep red state hell hole, and got laid off from my job as the GM of the service side of a farm implementation manufacturing company when the company decided to kill off the company-branded service centers and sell off those assets. I knew the end was near about two months ago when I was short 2 of of the 3 service managers and was not allowed to rehire, and technician staffing was about 30%. Most of this year I was filling in for the missing service managers and was only home on Saturday as the unstaffed centers were 4 and 5 hours away from home. I got a decent severance. The laid off technicians and support folks got jack shit. I helped about half of them get other jobs, but I still feel terrible they got the shaft.…
