Hey antiwork, basically I work at a bar with a very small team, it's just me, a coworker, our manager, and the owner (owner never shows up). Needless to say they're severely understaffed but also don't really treat their employees well. I took vacation until next week and in the meantime found something else. Now, I need to quit today as the new thing is already lined up for the days after I'm back from vacation and tomorrow my manager will make the shifts schedule for that week, thus I need to quit before he makes the schedule. Thing is I feel bad for quitting due to them needing me so much and today is also my manager's birthday I feel like he wouldn't like to receive these news on his bday. On the other hand I need to look after my interests. What do I do, I really don't…

most rediculous joke: tax brackets
I am just calculating how much Jensen Huang made from his stock offloads. His wealth 10x in just 2 years. And he only pay 37% of his 500 million earnings in tax??? While average us worker pay 22% of our measly paychecks. Like he made 10000x more, but he only pays 1.5x in tax? How is this fair? This tax system is so broken. I propose a new tax bracket: 0 – 50k: 0% 50k – 100k: 10% 100k – 500k: 30% 500k – 1M: 50% above 1M: 70%

30 minutes for lunch is not enough.
I started a new job recently (American company) and I have to clock out for lunch and it's for 30 mins and each lunch is scheduled. You can't take it earlier or later. 30 mins is not enough time to cook a meal so everything has to be prepped and definitely no time for a 20 min walk to clear the head. And because I have to clock back in, I feel like I can't fully switch off because I'm constantly keeping an eye on the clock. I miss hour long lunches that could be taken at any time. ETA: I do meal prep, I don't like it but I do. Truth be told it's the inability to get some fresh air that's really annoying me. I used to go for 30 min walks during lunch to keep moving now by the time I'm finished eating and cleaning up I…
Micromanaging PTO
I work from home for a large hospital scheduling appointments over the phone alongside about 20 peers on my specific team; sort of like a call center, but smaller scale. Mentioning because my absence would be noticed, but would not significantly derail anything. My employer is adjusting our window to request PTO be submitted six months ahead of time “to create a fair, clear, and predictable method to process time off requests”. They are also requiring we have accrued these hours BEFORE requesting any dates. ADDITIONALLY, they are requiring any PTO requests made outside of this window be made 8 weeks prior, or earlier, to be considered for approval AND if I want to submit an “advanced request” further out than the date of the current window, I have to email said coworkers and wait two weeks to see if they have a conflict with my request. That is none…

How to ask for a higher salary raise?
Hello, I currently work in Spain for an IT company and I consider myself lucky with where I am. I have good conditions, and my salary has been increased twice a year as agreed upon when I joined. Every six months, I've had a raise of 4-5k (the starting salary was 21k approximately). Now, the situation is that salary reviews are annual from now on. My next review is coming up soon and, to be honest, I have a good salary, but I consider that the work I do has great value for the company. Most of my department's objectives are achieved because of my contributions and I help most of other departments too with ease. I believe I bring great value to the company and they know it, and it's worth for them to keep me. That said, HR always prioritizes their own insterests, so I expect a raise…
How best to give notice to a shit job?
Edit:I unfortunately do HAVE to give notice because my current supervisor can delay my ability to start my new position as my new supervisor will need him to approve reqs for my equipment and such. Also he could probably get the offer rescinded if I didn't give notice….which I really am trying to avoid as I am actually excited for this new position. ————————— I am transferring internally otherwise I'd just stop showing up….or show up but when I clock out for lunch just never clock back in again but alas I cannot. So if y'all could, I need help coming up with the snarkiest YET polite way of putting my notice in. My job is severely understaffed…yet won't hire more people at a decent wage (hence why we remain understaffed), basically told me I was too disabled for a promotion despite the limitations I have not affecting the job…
