The fact that our “leadership” would even speak this into existence is appalling when we're working ourselves to dust and the cost of living is continuing to rise.

I wish we could normalize asking what the CEO to average employee salary ratio was during job interviews. Give ourselves the opportunity to work for places that value employee contributions
haven't had any luck with software jobs for more than a year in usa. one of the reasons is the job gap on my resume during my master's plus the time after it. I could use a lead reference or above from any company which is decently popular, for a job during this gap.
Why isn’t being an artist a “real job”?
I've worked with a lot of older business people and engineers, and I routinely hear and read complaints about artists, social scientists, art historians, musicians, philosophers, etc. The premise is that Humanities degrees are worthless and a waste of money. But why? Is it not a valuable enterprise to understand humanity, to ask questions, to understand our past, to create beautiful things – not for the sake of profit, but because it's an expression of our humanity. Who are the famous historical figures we remember? Are they shippers and merchants, or are they authors, poets, composers, leaders, philosophers, and scientists? The nature of college, student loans, and cost of living forces a lot of people down a narrow path that they wouldn't pursue if it wasn't financial suicide to do so, and I think that really sucks.
Salary and wage question
I understand that recently salary/wage/overtime eligibility has changed July 1st at the Federal Level,; what I am having difficulty understanding is what are the new stipulations? Like for example if I lived in Michigan, USA and I was given a Salary of 40K a year am I eligible for OT? I have tried to contact government reps but they do not have a phone number and are slow. If anyone could help point me in the right direction….or let me know the exemptions, etc.
Inspired by the movie “The Menu,” where a chef’s love for his craft is corrupted by the demands and expectations of those he serves, what’s your story? How did your company’s culture take something unique about you—your passion, creativity, or a special trait—and turn it into a source of stress, leaving you feeling hollow or disconnected from who you once were? What did you do about it and did you survive?
I work in the spa at a hotel/casino, and my state has sick leave days, of which I haven't exceeded my earned hours. I'm a cosmetologist, I have a coworker who's been having health issues who is a nail technician, she was supposed to work with me on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, but was in the hospital, to absolutely no fault of her own. Because she was out, I was given all of her appointments, and I'm not nearly as fast as she is at nail services, so from Tuesday all through Friday, I worked alone, and had to skip my lunch break four times. By Thursday I felt the stress of working alone getting to me, and I ended up crying in my car after work for two hours. I asked my direct supervisor, who is another service provider, if I could take a mental health day,…
Asked to sign a non-compete
During a recent job offer I was asked to sign a non compete. I did, however, since I’d never had to sign one before I did a little research and I learned that the FTC has a new rule banning non competes. I understand the rule goes into effect on 9/4/24. Should I expect to be notified that it is unenforceable? I find it odd that they’d ask me to sign it so close to the ban going into effect.
