I’m so burnt out and depressed, the source of which is the fact that I have absolutely nothing to look forward to in life. Ever. All I do is go through the same motions every single day. Wake up, commute in traffic I hate to a job I hate, then come home too mentally fried to even think of a way out. Over and over again. Totally unmotivated, uninspired, unfulfilled. Yet entirely reliant on that paycheck to barely scrape by. I wish I could take a sabbatical or something. Just a few months or a year off work so I can regroup, recollect myself and figure out a better way to live. I’m finding myself wishing my life away so I could just retire immediately. There seems to be no hope until I am able to.

Currently I work a rotating shift of 2 on, 2 off, 6 on, 4 off, repeat. Yesterday I received notice that due to some employees becoming “complacent” they are changing everyone’s shift to 10 on, 4 off. It also aligns to where there is no overtime in the pay period. They said it is non-negotiable and if anyone has problems then they wish them the best on their future endeavors. Funny thing is, 2 people have quit within the last week, so they are short staffed already. It seems like they are getting too big for their britches and digging a hole from which they won’t recover. It was also said that any negative remarks regarding the schedule change will result in a reprimand.

Five years of experience within federal government jobs and can't even land a damn mid level clerk position. (You know the people that keep our governments functioning) I'm tired of going through multiple job interviews only to come up short. It's quite hilarious that I have to hide not one professional degree but two of them just to work in retail again!

CA… Has anyone had success in contacting CA Labor Board and actually hearing back or getting their penalty pay for not being paid out within 72 hours of quitting? If so how long did it take? My coworker left 7/05 and didn’t get last pay until 7/19 I left 7/19 and still haven’t been paid the 25 hours I work during the last pay period. Just curious if the labor board actually responds cause I’ve seen a few people say yes and a hell of a lot more say they never got back.

If your job treats you like you're disposable, treat them with exactly the same level of disregard when making your exit. In the last 7 years, I've worked for two major corporations that both claimed have never laid off employees… and to their records, they haven't have lay-offs. Four years ago at company A, hiring stopped, silent layoffs occurred and weren't reported, I switched companies due to the fallout of layoffs and metric changes – I didn't want to be part of wave 2.. which happened only a year ago at the same company. Veterans and new employees alike were all fired both times. Now, my current company that hasn't had layoffs with a fifty year record, top of our industry and we make well enough money in my department to pay of all of our expenditures with millions left over for only 5 employees (just one dept). A round of firings/layoffs just occurred. Veterans and new employees alike were all fired. Our economy is in shambles, benefits are being burned…
