I feel stressed out with this manager who kept calling all the time during shift. I kept thinking “Can't this be an email or chat? Why do you have to call all the time without even notifying me?” I feel so micromanaged. How do you handle or even tell a supervisor to stop? I understand that calling might be ok if it is urgent/important. But if it's just something general, can't it just be an email/chat? Or at least let me know prior to calling me. One time she called me while I was on a training call too.

Working in a large bank, got the call from my boss to say my roles been impacted. Comms will be sent out to the broader team tomorrow and the asked me to help write the comms for the announcement 🙂 Basically to explain what my role has been for the last x years, sound professional to you ?

Just curious how many other non-essential workers are being forced/harrassed/threatened to be at work during the hurricane and tropical storm this week. Feel free to post if you left your home and can't get back due to roads literally falling apart.

A local grocery chain keeps posting job listings for several positions, all of which I'm qualified for. It pays better than my current job and has benefits (my current job got rid of our benefits when a corporation bought us up). I applied to several positions last year. Never got an answer, the job listings were deleted and then reposted again later. Every time they post a new application, I apply and I get the same. No answer, not even a rejection. I can check the statuses of all of my past applications that I've ever applied for with them and they are all still “under review” for almost 20 months now. Recently I saw a slew of job listings from the same location. Same positions, same requirements, same things I have the appropriate qualifications for. So I applied AGAIN. This is mostly just a vent because I'm not in a good headspace right now. Wouldn't be surprised if some of my coworkers are on here so hey y'all if you recognize me, yes I'm the one who got the store shut down like 3 times I made a post in this sub sometime last year, and things have been up and down since then, and currently it's way the fuck down. My new job, an equally shitty taco place, has been sending up red flags since the moment I had my interview, but I was desperate (and still am, frankly). Scheduled for 6 days in a row on the onset–I made decent money but I was also dead on my feet. We got a new GM, everything was looking up. Get essentially a second GM and everything gets immediately worse. Suddenly there's no hours, GM #2 is an incompetent…

The department is having another work social. The first one was “mandatory” — the kind where they don’t say that word but heavily imply that you need to go or they’ll be upset. They said since it was such a “great success” that they’re holding another one! I didn’t go to the first one and I don’t want to go to this next one. My controversial opinion is that I really don’t care if we’re being paid for it, I don’t want to go. I’m an introvert and it’s draining as hell, I also don’t like my coworkers that much and I don’t want to smile and play nice with the bosses. I don’t want cold eggs and bacon. I don’t want to drive to a different location then go to the office and continue to be social. I don’t care if you pay me for mileage. I’ll clock in…

I put in my notice at my current job today because I’m starting a new position soon and my manager said to me “I said this to BLANK when he left, but I was lying, but if you need a recommendation in the future l can give you one” A few things, Now am I supposed to believe you are now telling me true truth? That former colleague of mine is a long term friend, I’m of course going to tell him because what if he’s actually been putting him down as a reference? Why bring someone else up when I’m quitting? It felt odd. What the f*ck? Why lie? Why not just say “I can’t give you a good recommendation so you should ask someone else” WTH?!
