umm….what? negotiation-free workplace?

context: i work in a field that's VERY serious about pay equity and transparency, which is great but i've never seen anything like this? the application reads: “[COMPANY] engages in a negotiation-free practice for salaries and benefits that is aligned with our internal equitable compensation plan. We seek to offer competitive salaries and benefits that are aligned with market research and the requirements of the role.” has anyone ever seen this before? i'm in SUCH a liberal field and i'm having some cognitive dissonance over this lol

D$N¥ forces arbitration because of clause in D$N¥+ Streaming Contract

CastMembers are offered the streaming service with advertisings a company perk. (Really unpaid homework so they can know everything D to answer guest questions) Yeah, the company is attempting to set up a Judicial precedent (or ‘stare decisis’) . A Stare Decisis is a legal principle whereby courts follow the rulings of previous cases with similar facts and issues, ensuring consistency and predictability in the law. The company obviously failed their own incredibly strict food allergen protocols. They did it! They killed a guest! Share widely ! Let’s get the grieving family more $. And kill this arbitration clause!

Hot take: it’s okay to lie on your resume to get ahead

As the title says. You got an employer on your resume that is no longer in business or no longer exists? You weren’t a cashier, you were a shift supervisor. Or you weren’t a sales rep, you were a team lead, perhaps a manager. Businesses on your resume that are still around? Heavily exaggerate your tasks and skill sets that you did. The only rules I have for this is never lie about where you worked (if you didn’t work for Microsoft, don’t put it on there), and never lie about a skill set or task you’re not comfortable with taking on once hired. There’s a reason these employers ask for phone numbers, because they have no other way of verifying if you’re being honest or not. And if the business no longer exists, you have an upper hand here. If they somehow have the ability discover a discrepancy (which…

The worst trauma I have ever experienced

I have never posted before on reddit, but I felt I wanted to share my experience with you all. I just left the job of my life 3 months ago, but not because I wanted to, but because I had abusive and disrespectful bosses. I think its important to provide the context and start from the beginning. So I had a trip planned for the first week of April to visit my grandfather in Florida for heart surgery. So I saved up vacation time for months to take the week off in Florida. Around the first week of March, my supervisor announces that she is leaving (coincidentally) the first week of April for a new job, so, me being the people pleaser I am, I told the team I would work from Florida during that week to attend all the meetings she was going to attend. I didnt really get…

CFOs Everywhere: Moving the ball “forward” with giant leaps BACK

So at my tech environment we are moving everyone around. The CFO is a cra-cra woman like you would not believe, search my *other posts and comments on that… The debate since we hired Service people is to get them near their own department. We have plenty of offices we used to use. Now, most of them are empty after the inevitable Great Realignment and post Pandemic shrink. But, we have new Team that have to move in near us and we are short on cubes. Most of us in nice big cubicles, not the small cube0farm types; and, we enjoy lively interaction all the time as part of our culture. This also helps new people have resources in multiple departments to help with their requests during training, and beyond. The counterpoint for our Sales Team is they could focus in an office and not be disturbed, not just by…

Fast food places scheduling only three people and expecting them to work as much as a full crew so they can save money.

What would you do in this situation, if you weren't able to get another job? Someone i know is always complaining because of this, and it's frustrating. Today he was so busy that he couldn't leave his position and he almost pisses himself. My opinion is invalid because I've never been in fast food before, but I wouldn't kill myself knowing that managers do this on purpose. Coworker has to leave me alone to eat luch at some point in their 12 hour shift? okay, I'll keep the pace of a 1 person team, even if a line forms. Not my problem, what did they expect? You know what i mean? It's hard because people don't want to get fired, they have to pay the bills. But these things happen because their bosses know they can get away with it. They can make people work 12 hour shifts without a…

Huge rant

I work for G, but at customer location. Since I'm not an employee of Customer, those employees have much more seniority and sway than I do. I'm used to this dynamic, been my norm for quite some time. At Customer is employee D who has a PhD that doesn't apply to our work but everyone calls him Dr. D. Because of what I do, I call everyone by first names because my job involves leveling the field. That's literally the only thing I can think of that put me in this guy's cross hairs. Started here in Nov with a ton of experience and creds. Take over his team in Dec. Cruise in January (planned, of course) and got the flu immediately after getting back, did my damndest to work remote through it. Wasn't good enough, D complained that I wasn't present enough and he wanted me off his team.…

headshot for company website

Well they’re redesigning the website and want to put our pictures up under our titles. they haven’t asked for a blurb about our family life and hobbies yet but I fear that’s coming. I really don’t want my photo on the Internet. I don’t have any personal photos on my social media of myself my kids or even my pets. I really don’t feel comfortable with this and I don’t know what to do. Can I say no? I’ll probably be the only one that declines and look like a weirdo, but it gives me tons of anxiety.

Our latest employee is young and she’s amazing and is young!

This is exactly how our manager described a new hire during a meeting. As someone over 40, it sounds discriminatory every time I hear this statement made at work. We have DEI policies in place which talk about everything besides blatant ageism by managers. It feels discriminatory everytime I hear this in meetings where they talk about a new employee joining in. And despite my tolerance, I find it disturbing that they keep referring to this without understanding the bias it brings in because it implies that older employees dont get with the program. Ageism is real and managers don’t understand of have the capacity to see that talking about how one is young or old is discriminatory and ageist! Or am I just not understanding the situation and over reacting here? What’s your experience been like?
