Month: August 2024
My wife was let go today because she told her company that when they change the schedule and make everyone start coming to the office Tuesday-Thursday instead of Monday and Tuesday. They called this “insubordination”. What a pile of bull shit. The only reason you want people, who have been successful in their jobs, to come to the office more is because you like the fucking power you wield over them. Quick edit: my wife is also 7 months pregnant so finding a new job isn’t gonna happen for a while. Another edit: The mandate is live in Sept. so technically she hasn’t done anything but tell them she doesn’t plan on adhering to it once it happens.
My partner is a freelance photographer. A few months ago, he was hired by a client to take some pictures and videos for social media. my partner gave his client an invoice where the invoice states that the first half of whatever amount he charges the client must be paid first and then the second half will be paid when the job is done. my partner took the videos and photos and edited them and his client paid the first half of the agreed price. My partner submitted the footage, the client gave him an angry excuse where he basically was complaining about the price… which is kind of funny because the client had already paid half of the agreed price, meaning he had seen what the total must’ve been. It’s been a few months since then and the client has been ignoring my partner’s emails to pay for that…
I work at a well known Central Ga (US) Pub and Grill. I went to HR to to see if temporary disability or unemployment would be an option. I was told that I was shit out of luck. I have multiple herniated disk in my neck that are causing continuous nerve pain and numbness in my primary arm. I was told that I need surgery very soon to maintain my current function. What are my option? Am I being fed a line by HR. I've worked there for a decade and I'm feeling abandoned.
Pretty much it. I work in manufacturing, we make generators. I build the control panels for them. My group manager (bosses boss) has a goal to build and ship, I think, 3~k generators by the end of the year. We've managed around 1700 so far. But recent supplier issues has put us behind. He wants to hit his goal. I asked a team lead what happens if we don't. I was told pretty much nothing. But what'll happen if he does? He gets a pat on the back, recognition for doing so well and making the company money and, of course, a nice fat bonus. Me? Little old me will get tons of OT and all but live at work. Selling my soul just so he can get his bonus Did I mention this guy wants us to hit 'our' number so badly that he tells people “quantity over quality”?…
I'm resigning effective immediately. I drew up the paper, was prepared to hand it in first thing. Boss is “super busy” in meetings with the ceo. I told the team lead instead since boss was so busy. Team lead asked me to stick around and give it to the boss, but that was two hours ago. I've been scrolling reddit since doing nothing. I'm about ready to just drop the letter under the boss door and walk. I know legally I can walk out the door now, but I'm trying to be professional. How long would you wait? EDIT: I'm out now, on to greener pastures!

Hi, English is not my first language so, please excuse any mistake. I think this is the craziest, malicious company I have ever worked for. Working every day is another day of torture, and, more than anything, working for them. While writing this post, I am still wondering if that is a joke. managers have absolutely no issue talking on your colleagues back and insult them in front of you. One day, I had to work late. A manager of one team had a call NEXT TO ME saying she wanted to fire X and find a way so X would not sue them. She was making a plan on how to fuck her up. We DO have meeting rooms if you are wondering. I went to see the HR cause the work I was doing was way beyond what I signed for. I asked the salary I deserved. He…
Today a temp agency told Me I'm Not good with jobs implying I get fired alot or job hop because of an incomplete work history. I had the same job for ten years. I worked over two whole years at a job. The rest of the time I worked seasonal retail and temp jobs. They aren't guaranteed to last forever. Seriously if the work history has two jobs taking up 13 years of the last twenty 4 as a temp how am I not good at staying at a job?
