Why do I even put up with this crap

Hello everyone, long time viewer and first post on this sub so enjoy For my last three jobs I've been working in pizza and all I've done is dishes even though I signed up to do something else I recently started work at a new pizza restaurant that popped up about a month ago, place wasn't even open yet and I got lucky and secured myself as part of the team, it's a really nice place, great food, great people, but shitty managers. I was trained on working the oven cooking the pizzas and even cutting them, then opening week came and I'm stuck with bussing the whole week, another weeks goes by and I haven't even touched a pizza cutter. Instead I'm stuck working on dishes and even the cash register. So I ask why I haven't been on cut since training week, they look at me confused and…

“This is not a 40 hour commitment,” says my boss while lecturing me…

I posted a few days ago, and here my boss goes again with the boomer-esque masochistic obsession with zero work life balance. I’m absolutely tired of this mentality in corporate work life and I REFUSE to dedicate more than an 8 hour block of time to my job. I am a HUMAN BEING. My life is NOT my job. Fucks sake, im tired of this.

I don’t do overtime

Back in March I left Lockheed Martin because work was getting in the way of my time with my son. His mom passed away 7 years ago so I make every effort to give him any time I have. Started a new job as a custodian about a month ago. Great hours. 6-3 M-F. But custodial is criminally understaffed. If one person can't make it then we all work overtime to keep the facility in shape. I told my supervisor I'll work an hour overtime today. But that's it. After today either figure out your staffing issue or I walk. I think they're accustomed to people who will bend over backwards for their $14.91/hr. Not this guy.

Union bosses are just as bad, if not worse (rant)

I am not a worker complaining about my union, I am a worker complaining about my bosses who work for a union. I can count on one hand the number of bosses I've had as an organizer who didn't try to screw over their employees at every turn. The fact that they know the ins and outs of labor law makes them so much more dangerous and destructive to their employees. Working as an organizer will have you looking hypocrisy in the face every day and I am sick of it. Unions are great, the organizers that you interact with (if your workplace is organized) are great, but the bosses are just the worst. It is just so disheartening to be working in this movement because I believe in the values only to realize that so many people at the top do not practice what they preach. Edit: I am…

Is it me or does every job require reliable transportation because you’re expected to work multiple locations?

Maybe a lot of people have talked about their lack of transportation but it's weird to be looking for a job and realize almost every job I could do wants me to work at multiple locations. The problem is, I can't afford a car.

How do you motivate yourselves

I am asking in this thread because this chat is full of people that have experienced “work” as degrading, meaningless, and unfulfilling. But at the end of the day we have to work so we can feed ourselves, how do you guys motivate yourselves to go to work? Is there a certain work style that helps you compartmentalize? I’m looking for answers beyond “it pays the bills” or “do what you love you never work a day in your life” Every institution, non profit, agricultural, small business, healthcare, the list goes on I do not know how people come into work to be mistreated, underpaid, and barely make a difference on our patriarchal, capitalist society. TLDR: How do you keep a job when you hate “working”?

LPT: if you’re flying for work, show up to your gate extra early and wait for overbooked flights.

I've been traveling a lot for work lately, and have been taking this opportunity every chance I get. Not sure what it is like in the US, but in Canada nearly every flight is overbooked. I volunteer to change flights immediately, because they offer large cash payments to fly out slightly later. So I get a “delayed” flight for work, and sometimes up to $1200 cash for “volunteering”

shitty job and no support

so, i got hired to work at a thrift store. it was in a rather sketchy part of town and seemed a little run down, but it was the first place to offer me an interview or a job, had great hours, and fairly decent pay, so i took it. first day, everything is smooth and there's no issues. second day, someone pees in the dressing room and i have customers berate me for not having items (because we run off donations so obviously inventory changes all the time). third day, someone ELSE pees in the dressing room and i notice the poor soul who has to clean was not given any PPE and was just given a bucket and a mop. by my fourth and fifth day i'm getting berated for not doing very minute things, and i got in trouble for not using the right pricing gun despite…
