Does anyone else think the system is a scam? Honestly… Who wants to work a 9-5?

“Rooney was one of thousands of Twitter employees sent an email by Musk requiring them to pledge to stay with the company, working long hours at “high intensity” during its transformation, or to accept a buyout. Staff were given a day to click “yes” to agree to unspecified employment terms. The commission rejected X’s argument that Rooney quit voluntarily and ruled that not clicking “yes” in response to the email did not constitute an act of resignation.” I just like seeing when an employee wins against a soulless executive.
I just can’t do this anymore
Trigger warning, I guess. I don't have it in me to list warnings. Just… warning. Definitely gonna go some dark places. I just… can't keep going with this. I had to leave a job 3 years ago for my own safety, and haven't managed to have anything go right since. I was supposed to have a place lined up after leaving that job, but it fell through. I've had other jobs since then, but all were either short-term contracts with zero benefits and massive red flags, or I made mistakes and managed to fuck the opportunity up. When I left, I wasn't in any debt. I had a small savings, I had a small inheritance (about $5,000, that has literally accumulated from the day I was born) and I thought things would be ok. No unemployment, I left of my own volition. I mean, if I had stayed I either…
TLDR at the end I have worked in food service for almost 7 years. We have had a dozen orders stolen by drivers who unassign in the parking lot in the last month. So now we have been asked by upper management to watch them confirm they received the order. First of all, he pretends to take a picture of the order, and goes “It wont let me take a picture! Oh well!” and before he leaves I ask him to please confirm the order. It was a large order right before closing. I really wasn’t trying to remake all of it. I also know that’s not how DoorDash works. You don’t take photos at the restaurant. He then begins yelling at me and saying that my system should tell me whether he confirmed the order or not. I told him that it does not. He tells me that I…
Hey, work for a pretty well known brand and it's my first corporate job in all 30 years of employment. I'm an individual contributor. My direct supervisor works from home in NJ (I'm in Florida). In the Florida office I have seen the director 7 times, and the SVP maybe 3. Working in the office is expected, even though there is no one in my department at the office, nor do I interact with anyone pertinent to my job in any way. Just hoping you all go feral explaining why I have a 2 hour commute back and forth each day. Have fun.
Major Layoffs at Harley-Davidson
I worked for a 3PL for HD, and they just went through major layoffs which trickled down through the 3PL’s. No severance. Just a letter talking about how it wasn’t a reflection of my hard work and dedication to the company. Now I’m in an already volatile job market competing with everyone else who just lost their jobs. I am recently divorced and just moved into a place with my 10yo son and 3yo golden two weeks before the layoff. I have $13 in my account, and I don’t know when unemployment will come through. At first I thought it would be a good move because the company was so toxic, but now I am overwhelmed and scared with suicidal ideations. I would never kill myself, but the weight of financial stress is so heavy. I’ve had a few interviews, but nothing seems attainable. I’m tired of hearing that nobody…
Underpaid and overworked?
Let me start by saying I'm not 100% sure this is the best place to ask this type of question. But I read here a lot and I would appreciate your input. I work as a “data analyst” for a large company in the U.S. I have worked for this company for ~3 years but in this role for ~2 years. I earn about 85k salary in a fairly HCOL area. It's enough to live comfortably on the somewhat minimalistic lifestyle I prefer while also putting some aside for savings and retirement. Company has decent benefits as well I should mention, insurance, retirement matching that sort of thing. I have not received a raise larger than 3-4% since I started, despite my responsibilities far outmatching my job description. I have been told to go far and above my role on numerous occasions and imo brought a lot of value to…
Like explained. A link is okay also. Hate the orange man now that it seems his going agaimst his own voters.
I deal with admin/accounting and budgeting stuff. I cover for two people at work. For one of them (Let’s call her Zoey, it’s mutual (she covers for me when I’m off and I cover for her when she’s off) I cover for another person (Let’s call her Linda) who sorts mail and does reprographic stuff but she does not cover for me cause her skill sets are limited. When I cover for Linda, I’m basically expected to do two jobs at once. And according to them use my best judgement in prioritizing tasks (cause according to my managers what I do isn’t that hard anyway) Now I put in a sick day like two weeks in advance for a mental break. I get a text Saturday saying I got to cover for Linda cause she suddenly fell sick and won’t be able to make it in for like three days.…
