I wanted to share a story from the past. I was on vacation for a week and specified to my boss that I'd be off for the week, through the upcoming long weekend. No problems with getting that time off, they said they're going on vacation that same time too. The long weekend was a Monday holiday, so I was off the week going into that weekend meaning I'd be back Tuesday, or so I thought. I get a message the Friday evening from them being like “I'll be back in on Monday, anyone who wants to work from X-Y, let me know”. I'm confused reading that while on vacation because Monday is a holiday, why would anyone come in, and I thought they were off the long weekend too. I get a message Sunday night from then checking in on me since I never replied and were like “Hope…
Month: August 2024
Hi, So I used to work in the finance department for THE major health service in the UK (if you know you know). I was there for around 9 months. When I joined the team I was given a full-time permanent job and honestly, I loved it. I liked my team and initially, everything was fine. Then I started getting pulled into these random formal meetings surrounding my “conduct” which were me being told that I was unprofessional in the office. I did nothing different to anyone else in the office, I would joke with my friend but nothing I haven't done in previous professional environments. A couple of months ago things kicked off. Someone had been going to my manager behind my back and showing them private texts sent from my personal phone outside of work hours (regarding something I was unhappy about) and then also making up plain…
Laid off due to favoritism
Still fuming, but got laid off due to my boss preferring another worker for the same sector as me in a different department. Boss basically left for a better endeavor and them and theyre second in command chose the worker to onboard. Called it about the high nepotism and favoritism throughout the years where it interferres with my job but kept it pushing. My sector was fully staffed but due to their preference, the other sectors who werent making deliverables got protected. Dont want to block people’s blessings but come on. Remember kids. Fuck staying late, forget picking up the slack for other people on the team, fuck doing everything youre asked and more. Cant say tenure cause I wasnt the newest, cant say experience cause i wasnt with the least, and cant say salary because i was apparently the lowest paid. Got people acknowledging they can do what they…
I have been absolutely STRUGGLING to get any sort of finance internship or job since graduating college in May 2023. I have a bachelor's degree in business administration and a minor in finance but no related work experience apart from a few part time jobs I worked during college. I ended with a 3.7 GPA I've come to the point where I feel like lying is my only option since I've seen some very convincing posts here on Reddit of people's success stories regarding lying on their resume. My question is if I lie, get the job and get the necessary experience, aren't I set since the only job I'll have lied for is the first one?? Really down bad at the moment. Please help!
I was meaning to make this post for a minute, and I was curious to know if anyone else experienced this. Due to grad school and other scheduling things, I've been looking to switch jobs. I've since landed a job I'm looking forward to, but I ran into a confusing interaction while checking out a different role at a different company. I applied for a local job in my field. Got a friendly email asking me to schedule a Zoom interview. I checked what was available on their calendar and scheduled, but immediately got an email saying that that day wouldn't work and that it was being rescheduled a day earlier. I was a bit surprised, but thought it was no issue. The week of the interview, it was changed to another day, this time in person. And a few hours before the next interview day, it was rescheduled again…
I work in sales. Small base + commission. I was told the potential was a 50/50 split if I really sell a lot. So far, my commissions are about 5% of my base. I'm not getting what I was promised. I've been very successful thus far too. A lot of new revenue from me joining the team. My boss is making it very difficult to want to talk to him about anything. He can be so dry and comes off as judgemental. The biggest example is with commissions. He makes it difficult to earn commissions and I have logical reasons as to why I deserve more but the sales don't count toward commission, according to him. He is also never encouraging. I can have a company record day and he will just say “sweet” or “keep it coming”. Never “good job” or “you are doing great things for the company”.…
I start hating my colleagues
I know I should not. They are often on long sick leave. I am taking over their work. I start to hate them so much. I hate doing their tasks. Based in Europe so they are still getting paid. A higher pay than mine. I used to be friend for several years with one of them that is ghosting me for months since her sick leave. Which make me think that the “friendship” wasnt even real. I hate everything about work. Tomorrow i'll be off for 2 weeks. Can't wait, I am beyond tired and just got out of my first pregancy trimestre. Sorry I just needed to vent
Glorified Saleswoman
Not looking for advice just ranting. I got a new job at a university call center out west and it’s basically just a sales job. We talk to students on the phone and try our hardest to get them to apply. Hardest as in calling repeatedly… I don’t understand why jobs omit details and change names in order to hide what you’re really doing. I’m grateful to even have a job knowing how hard it is right now but I’m considering looking at other offers. Not to mention at the end of the week they post your stats in an email for everyone to see which can be embarrassing if your stats aren’t on par with others on the team!
Sick days = Personal and Vacation days
Laid off after 7 years at the dealership
Well it finaly happened, Got laid off Friday at the close of buisness. I was with that company through three buy sells and all of covid working 6 days a week. I kind of saw this coming due to the fact that the owner and his brother have been cutting everyones hours, even skimming some from me and a few other coworkers ( stated the time was taken to cover our lunch brakes that we had to work through). Now the only one working my dept is my old 80yo manager who is due to go in for a pacemaker install in a few weeks. Tho they stated my commission check will be deposited in my account on the next pay day I have my doubts that it will be there or be the full ammount. Tho I am laughing a bit on the inside bc I hold most of…
