I have started crying before work. I hate it for the way tgey treat me. They treat me like i am stupid. Not capable of doung anything else but the job i have. My stupidity IS that I stayed through being refused promotions and the latest non-existent promise of a raise I hate myself for allowing them to treat me this way. After an upcoming medical procedure, I will be gone. It isn't scheduled yet. The hospitals here are all short-staffed. I ordered a kit which came today. The included tank air pump was dead. This produced a meltdown involving me berating myself for being stupid, can't do anything worthwhile, the boss at work holding me back from advancement mus be right. Tl;dr I rant and bitch about my cool job. I work as an International Recruiter for a university where I get paid 50K per year to either sit on my ass and do nothing or travel to foreign countries to stand at a table and answer questions. Much to my surprise, I hate it. When I applied, I thought this would be my dream job. I love to travel and I wanted a job that paid me to travel. I do really enjoy the travel and meeting people all over the world, but most of the job is sitting in my office to answer emails and sit on zoom calls. Really, most of my job is spent watching youtube and wandering around the office. The office part of my job could be done from home or remotely, but my boss insists I come to the office without giving any reason…

How can I prank or wind up my boss? It’s got to the stage of control with Stuff like hot water urn and and speakers and other electronics on smart plugs. And physically switching stuff off when you are barely done using them haha. He has spent more on plugs and labour to do this than any savings they would have made over and reasonable amount of time. What should we do to prank them ?

I apologize for the vagueness but things have gotten weird at my partner’s job and it’s a free-for-all as to who can be trusted, and I appreciate any insight. We are located in the NY suburbs. Major corporation terminates employee (supervisor position) due to abuse of power (having relations with subordinates and also making others uncomfortable). It wasn’t out of the blue as they spent months collecting evidence. Terminated employee is now (supposedly) suing for $250,000 in damages for wrongful termination. Also supposedly, terminated employee’s lawyer reached out to to his boss (not my partner but also my partner’s boss), with a copy of a supposed “offer” from the company to give terminated employee the boss’s job in exchange for dropping the suit? That seems so suspicious to me. I used to work for same company in a different division and this seems incredibly off brand for them. Any ideas?

Do these idiots out there running businesses really think paying people low wages across the board is a GREAT thing while also raising prices SKY HIGH across the board is a sustainable business practice? Are they so fucking dumb they can't see that if you don't pay your employees well, other businesses aren't paying their people well, then no one will have money to spend on their business? I ask more rhetorically because the suits running the show are clearly remedial learners more focused on their golf stroke than understanding long term business survival versus short term profits. I feel like this is such an easy concept to grasp and I could leave toddlers in charge of these massive companies and do better.

Hello I’ll try and keep this short but I recently tested positive for Covid and was told by my GM that I needed to stay out of work until I was symptom free. I had informed them Monday morning a couple hours before my shift and was told to use sick time if I had any until I’m better so I put in the request for time off on our work app which was approved. On Wednesday morning i took another test showing negative so I texted them saying that my symptoms/ fever were gone and I had tested negative so I should be okay to return to work and received no reply. So I work for a “security” company out of Wisconsin, and we get contracted to events of all types all over the US. I had the opportunity to work an NFL game, but had to travel to Canton Ohio. I rode in a 14 passenger van for what was supposed to be a 9 Hr drive, but because of who was driving it took around 12 hours both ways. We also were not paid for this. Edit: Usually they only pay the people who drive themselves. The game got called cause of rain, so we worked maybe 4 hours? We usually get an extra $2-$3 an hour for out of state trips, but not this time. We got a $40 Per Diem. Which I think was only given on the first day. So that works out to about… $19 per hour. So, I've been stuck on 3rd shift for almost a year. I've ended up covering the split shift supervisor position (2nd 2 days, 3rd 3 days) since April, when the split shift super went and got a new job. I asked my boss about an open position that came up on first shift, because I have two young kids who are really struggling with how little they see me.. she compromised with slating me do 2nd shift supervisor on 2 days and 1st shift 3 days. Well, another supervisor (3rd shift) got fired. They don't have people to backfill both the split shift and 3rd shift supervisor roles. So what are they wanting me to do? Been with my company over 6 years and have had steady promotions every couple of years. In a role now that I think of as my dream job. However, since my last promotion (2 years ago) my colleagues have been making my work life so difficult. I’m not supported, not taken seriously, they spread lies about me not doing my job (when I do – hence the promotions), dismiss my ideas etc. On paper, I am meeting all my objectives, but the hostility and time wasted having dick measuring contests every day with colleagues is really wearing me down. I feel like my whole job has become a joke where I spend each week trying to fight off the bullies and not getting any professional growth. My manager is useless and will not help the situation.
