Last week I put in my notice at my job. Then last Friday and today half of my 16 person department got let go. All were senior staff been there least 5 yrs+. It's awful…I could see the signs of a layoff as well and I feel terribly for the ones let go. Never get too comfortable. Werid coincidence it lined up with my notice for sure.

Will also schedule all managers at one time and hark on us about labor being too high. I didn’t know I’m expected to talk to my coworkers about when we’re all taking a vacation. She’s known to exaggerate things like this and yell at people for taking time off but the thing is we all put it in our schedule app and tell her in advance in person
Concurrent in this context?
Does this mean that should a heat break occur at the same time as a normal break, that the time of both can be added togetherOr should the 10 minute heat break happen at the same time as the 10 minute break, you get a 10 minute break, not 20 minute break?
Hey Antiwork, So, I’m diving into something that’s probably gonna stir up some controversy, but hear me out. I’m currently cheating my way through online college, aiming to snag a bachelor’s degree in under six months. Yeah, I said it. And honestly, I’m not even sorry about it. Let me break down why this might actually make sense and why it’s not the awful thing it’s made out to be. First off, let’s get real about the education racket. The whole system is a scam. We’re told that a degree is our ticket to a “better” life, but all we get is a mountain of debt and job prospects that are about as real as unicorns. The promises they make are empty, and the system feels like it’s rigged to keep us on the hamster wheel. We’re supposed to spend years and thousands of dollars just to get a piece…
A few months ago, I shared in another sub about how unhappy I am with my current client. For context, I am a freelance PR consultant and writer, working with several clients at a time. All of them know this. I'm a part-timer, and I work remotely. I'm really good at what I do. One of my clients, however, whom I had worked with for almost 1.5 years, was really pushing my boundaries.: The agency owner is Sarah. The junior consultant, Jane, and I are on contract but expected to perform like full-time staff. She only ever has contractors to save on money. No benefits of any kind. No healthcare. Harassed into working late and weekends (outside of contracted hours, and not paid for it). Sarah, constantly micromanages, criticizes me, and makes frequent long phone calls for everything to both of us. Everything, for example would include her calling to…
PAC ticket sales
My work has a yearly fundraiser that uses proceeds to help with PAC goals the company looks to fulfill. I don't see a lot of clientele in person as much as I used to and I would rather not use my own hard earned money to buy the tickets. I work for a credit union in Michigan at the moment. If I refuse to sell these tickets I'm worried about possible retaliation as I don't believe this is relevant to my job function and I prefer to keep my politics separate from my work life. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this before? I'm just looking at other options at this point because I don't lile being involved in political matters.
HIPAA Violation?
I have missed a few days of work due to migraines and HR told me I need to get a doctor's note “stating that [I] get migraines and take medication for it.” Are they allowed to require that? I don't mind providing a note from my neurologist but does it have to go in that much detail? I feel wierd about them requiring I disclose whether I take medication. ETA the state is Ohio.
To be the pain in the a** employee
I’ve always been the easy employee. The one who does my job without being asked. The one who goes above and beyond without being thanked. Always on time, stays late, on top of their shit day and day out. Rarely complains. Has worked on so many days that I really didn’t want to (including the day my grandma died. And another day when I had a miscarriage. Not to mention countless days where I just didn’t feel very well). Almost never takes a lunch. Doesn’t do non work things on company time. Doesn’t stand around the water cooler chatting. Head down. Nose to the grindstone. Once again, I have a boss who sucks. I think I’m going to be the opposite of all that going forward.
Changing write up policy
I live in CA and work for a nation wide company that does mortgages and other things, recently they have made changes to the write up policy regarding production and conversion. Basically they are making it a lot easier to fire someone for production. Now here's the thing, the only reason we know this is because our manager is very open with us and lets us know what goes down in the big meetings and any changes they don't announce company wide. Wouldn't a company need to put out a notice and have it signed stating they are changing the policy of write ups? Wouldn't that mean any exisisting policy would be disbarred and switched to the new one? Appreciate all your thoughts and answers .
