I found out they were cutting my hours, and things got ugly. They expected me to be coming in an hour or two early to prep the station for free, but I always showed up on time, so they fired me on the spot one night because I didn't have enough time to prep my station.

Waking up dreading the work day
Anyone else just waking up feeling anxious or sick for the day ahead? It’s been so bad for me recently. I started a job a few months ago and I hate it. I know already that I don’t want to stay here but honestly just finding this job took me months and I went through a lot of rejections, stupid interview rounds and extra interview tasks. Going back to that seems horrible as well and maybe I should mention that I am completely sick of the industry I am in but because I have bills to pay it’s hard to switch to something else. And I should be happy. I have a job in this economy— and it’s fully wfh but honestly the workload has been intense. I am working 9-8 most days and even when I tried and do some extra stuff to “proof myself” and I thought I…
I woke up this morning and my dad told me that he had been laid off after working for 10 years at FICO with absolutely no forward notice. Apparently one of the higher-ups had a problem with his department and so they decided to axe the entire department. He only fond out this morning as he logged onto his work laptop. 10 years of work and they can't even give him a two weeks notice like the expect from us when we quit. These companies really don't give a shit about their employers. People can be hired and fired on a whim, and we're just numbers to them. Just remember that every time you check your credit score.
Just looking for like minded people to work on starting a real movement. I’m working on a project and need like minded people to help out.
Where should it stop?
I feel stressed out with this manager who kept calling all the time during shift. I kept thinking “Can't this be an email or chat? Why do you have to call all the time without even notifying me?” I feel so micromanaged. How do you handle or even tell a supervisor to stop? I understand that calling might be ok if it is urgent/important. But if it's just something general, can't it just be an email/chat? Or at least let me know prior to calling me. One time she called me while I was on a training call too.
Got the call
Working in a large bank, got the call from my boss to say my roles been impacted. Comms will be sent out to the broader team tomorrow and the asked me to help write the comms for the announcement 🙂 Basically to explain what my role has been for the last x years, sound professional to you ?
Forced to work in a State of Emergency
Just curious how many other non-essential workers are being forced/harrassed/threatened to be at work during the hurricane and tropical storm this week. Feel free to post if you left your home and can't get back due to roads literally falling apart.
