Is my boss trying to fire me?

I honestly am just curious. I hate this job so much I actually want to be fired just to get severance. I hope it’s the only thing I get out of this soul sucking job. I’ve been wanting to quit for two years now but I keep putting it off because I loved this job initially. Now I can’t stand working at this childcare place. I wake up every weekday morning with a racing heart and nausea. I can’t stand working with kids anymore because of my boss. Lately, my role for lesson planning was given to someone else and I just do staff appreciation now. Cool, don’t have to work as much. But now my boss wants to meet every week to go over things and this is after me telling. I have a suspicion I’m close to being fired but at the same time I just want to…

I don’t know if my workplace is toxic or not…

So, I've been a freelancer ever since I was studying. As I got good opportunities, I didn't turn to full time at all. But due to some family stuff, I had to look for a full time job and got one at a startup. The pay is peanuts but they had flexible hours and had assured me that Saturdays are off. As it turns out, Saturdays are NOT off. Thankfully, hours are flexible and you can take a leave quite easily. Now comes the problem. The work started piling up and even though it is flexible timings, there was always something pending, which led us to log in at night as well. I work in creative field, so the amount of effort I put for every task vs what gets approved differs VASTLY. The work stress (I log in at 11, take a break for lunch, then work till 7:30-8.…

Where can I submit evidence of wage theft and unpaid wages?

I’ve been in contact with my state’s (Ohio) labor department, but I have been unable to submit email and video evidence. I’ve only been able to speak on my own experience. When I started on July 21st, I worked for 4 hours and did not receive payment. I actually never signed an offer letter until July 25th, and I was never told to show my ID or birth certificate, and I actually never did for the month that I worked there. There was really no confirmation that I was even an American citizen. I signed employment forms in mid-August, about three weeks after starting. Moving on, my boss stated that she does not pay anyone (there’s roughly 6-10 employees that have no received payment for training, including at least one minor) for training and she uses the term “shadowing”. I have proof of her saying she is not paying for…

If I had to do it so do you is a garbage argument for not wanting to improve people’s lives

I recently took a job at a startup. It's a good job, has a nice base pay, and the hour expectation is very reasonable. On average we're all working 3 to 5 hours a day. Our product in theory can help reduce burnout provided that leadership teams don't tell people to fill the time they spent doing the task our product replaces with some other craptastic task. Anyway…just got off the phone with someone at a major fintech company. They work 80 to 90 hours a week. If leadership actually invested in what my company does, she could get 50 hours of her week back. She said if I could get my foot in the door and actually talk some sense into their leadership, everyone she works with would be so much happier. But she said that leadership operates under the argument of; “If I had to do it so…

Dumb recruiter wasted the opportunity of the year in five minutes

I'm still fuming while typing this. For context, I'm from Europe and I recently graduated from college, although a little late because I re-took my studies in hand when I was 29. I recently saw a job offer from a private languages school in my city, and I sent my application because you never know. A little surprised because I have a simple degree and no work experience in formal education, I received their call and went for an interview. I took my time to be fresh and nice, drove 30 minutes (not too much IF you don't waste that time) to their office and started the interview. The recruiter mentioned that she read I'm also a sports trainer in the evening hours, and I confirmed-I've been teaching my sport for 7-8 years by now and I teach every day, ehm evening. She immediately replied, “That doesnt work with us”.…

Being unemployed is offensive in polite society, I guess

I graduated last year with flying colors. I immediately started applying for jobs in my field. My parents told me they were proud of me for getting my masters in such a tough field and were supportive and told me to take as much as I need. They bragged to all their friends how I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in my country. They threw a big party just to parade me around. In 4 months, their attitude made a 180 degree turn. It didn't matter that I applied to 100+ job postings a week. It didn't matter I was still revising and learning extra skills. I was unemployed, and that was the biggest offense I could've done. They stopped taking me to family events. They outright started to ignore me. It's not about the money. They're not struggling by any means. My father is an executive…
