I switched jobs around 7-8 times in the last few years, and here's the long list of ways I got fired or quit. I am 19. This is what happens when you have NO union and give employers 100% of the bargaining power. 1st job: Fired in 1 week over $3 till shortage This one broke my heart for a long time. I felt really stupid. (7.75/hr) 2nd job: Fired in 1 day (Laid off, had no room for any more workers) ($7.25+tip) At this point my self esteem was basically crushed because these were my first few jobs. 3rd job: 3 weeks. Seafood. Fired. I made “too many mistakes”. It was very common to take 50-60 orders on paper in a night. I made an error on one. Where the loss was $0. It was a mix-up that was fixed quickly. Manager wanted to hire me back because she…

RANT ALERT! This job market is terrible.
Some factors you should know before reading. THIS IS A RANT. Stop now if you don't want your time wasted. I think we have all been there, so don't think you haven't had these exact thoughts. Yes, I know boomers are going to want to retaliate to this post. Just know this, I don't expect something for nothing and I don't think anything will be handed to me. We all know that back in your day, a person just needed drive and gumption to get a job. Now you're just gatekeeping jobs that almost anyone could do with ease. SO PLEASE RETIRE ALREADY SO WE CAN HAVE YOUR EASY JOBS. If you want to prove me wrong, convert a word document to a PDF and then back. I rewrite my entire resume to match the job description and use ATS analysis. I have had several colleagues and resume builders look…
So story's time I just had a week of from work on my frist day back the manager tell me to go home because apparently I stole money from the till and the date I got told I stole money is the same date as I had off from work and ever illegal team I phone basic said they can't help me so tell me how your week going
I get it coffee is people's life blood. It's the savior of the day but it's not mine. I WFH 3 days of the week and in office 2. Im in medical admin and transitioning to JACHO compliant office spacing. So now, since we're becoming more “official” in the eyes of the law, there was no other place to put the shared coffee pot other than into the shared office space I share with a bunch of other people. The don't appreciate the smell. I don't drink coffee and never have. It's one of my migraine triggers and it's just sitting here, 2 feet away from me. Until 6pm. I want to say something but then I'm that bitch. I try to open my office door but I work with secure information and I'm in a high traffic area. I guess I'm just bitching just to bitch and vent. I…
During my phone interview, she did not acknowledge my education when I told her I am a recent grad, she seemingly only cared that I am new to the field. I know times are hard, but sheesh. This is a very large medical company with 20 plus doctors and two locations in one city. The job I applied for requires a degree. I am recently changed careers, so I have no prior experience. It just doesn’t sit right with me that she breezes past anything concerning what I believe my work is worth. Is this typical? I am still a full time student, working on my second degree. I’m having a hard time reasoning with myself about taking a low wage job AND taking away from my studies.
Can they do anything??
So I am leaving a job (shit pay, part time, no benefits) for a much better job and after giving my two weeks my manager says this?? I don’t remember signing anything, but can they do anything?? Or are they just bitter and trying to scare me
Just some thoughts on uniforms…
This might be disorganised and illogical but in my defence I’m absolutely knackered… I was thinking earlier about the way I have to wear a uniform at work and I’ve realised that outside of PPE and security reasons (which can be handled in a different way anyway) its pointless… I’m a domestic cleaner meaning my uniform is part of my PPE, it’s a blue polo shirt with black trousers and my NHS badge. Wouldn’t it save the company money and improve morale if instead of making us wear uniforms (which they warn us may be inspected) they were to tell us to wear short sleeves and thick trousers we don’t mind getting damaged? Why do we have to wear clothes that stifle individuality? Wearing a uniform isn’t going to make me change your bins any faster (although ngl it is handy to have pockets I can put spare bin liners…
