The company I work for is being bought out. Today the takeover company is holding a meeting with all employees in which they will answer any questions. The new company is already cutting PTO and health benefits. What else should I ask to see how much they are really gonna screw us over?
Month: August 2024
So here’s the deal Debby hit us over weekend and Monday somewhat. I got the text from restaurant manager after I pulled in because I don’t check my texts while driving first off, and anyway she literally sent when I pulled in. There literally wasn’t any customers at all, my boss followed immediately with a text to “don’t bother coming in stay home “ so I didn’t clock in and went home. Now on our team app it says I “called out sick”. Is that even legal?
I’ve been unemployed for over 3 months now and struggling to find a new job. Today, I received a second email asking for the passcodes to 2 devices I returned. I know I’m not obligated to respond but am just floored they have the audacity to ask. I would love to tell them to F off but am just ignoring them. Anyone have a similar experience? What did you do? Btw – I’m not sure I even know what they are.
Overwork bias
In my team we all have the freedom to choose our working hours, we are expected to work 7h a day and we WFH 4 days a week. Some start at 7.30am, others at 9.30am. Here is my question to avoid additional work : is it better to be the person who's always overworked and who does way much more than his hours (allô mouse jiggler) but seams unproductive sometimes or the person who's seen as productive during his working hours but who disconnects as soon as she did her 7 hours a day?
jobs ghosting should be illegal
just here to say it is very unprofessional when a company leads you on for 2-3 interviews and then just ghosts you…it should be illegal lol
I've been at this job for 2 years now. Never been late rarely called out and therfore have a lot of sick hours but I never get sick. I want to ask to use them and if im told no I might extend my last day and call out for a full 2 weeks. How would yall go about this? I want this reference because it'd be a good one for me and my dog as I've been bringing him in since day one.
HR said that the letter my doctor wrote did not clear me to return to work. I asked my doctor to elaborate further and indulge them. HR says the second letter doesn't cut it either. Then… they send me a “proper form” for the doc to fill out. Try not to laugh too hard. My doctor was flabbergasted. “If they want the same information on their special piece of paper, that's what they'll get!”
I have ADHD and a learning disability and even with medication, I struggle a lot. I have a remote job and able to mask it well. I always worry that my disability will cause me to lose my job again. I imagine that if I tell him that it is my disability, I will have some legal protection if he fires me for this reason… but all we have is “reasonable accommodations.” I don’t even know what reasonable accommodations for me would even be? I need patience from the employer if I make mistakes, but I can still do a job.
