My boss is pressuring me to “take time off”

My dad died suddenly. I was told to take the time I needed to handle it, I took a mere two weeks. They said that they would support me. Then I caught Covid. I'm already planning to be back on Monday but they're pressuring me to “take a long break” so they can “find someone to permanently cover” me I missed one day. I've been here two years. Grieving plus Covid and now it seems soon to be unemployed. Love that for me. ETA – this is a small neighborhood bar, where I work eight hours a week (two shifts). It just feels like such a disproportionate, insensitive response. There is no LOA I can take without quitting.

My boss is a stereotype!

I'm this close to telling me boss he acts like a shitty boss stereotype you'd expect to see in an 80's movie. Deliberately understaffs and expects the same workload? Yep Talks to his employees like shit and never compliments their work? Indeed, if they think they're good enough they won't go “above and beyond” Putting the kibosh on changes made by his middle managers to make things better cause it's his way or the highway? Of course, he knows what's best! Downplays bullying and harassment in the workplace with the advice of “just ignore it”? You know it! Despite having a disgustingly high turn over of staff for these reasons, he's still under the impression it's everyone else's fault but his own? BIG YES! Every time I talk to my co-workers about wanting to change stuff, I'm the one who says “He won't do it for (money/inconvenience reasons)”

PTO payout question

I work for a company with headquarters in Arkansas. I live in Illinois and commute to the office in Wisconsin. Company policy is to not payout accrued PTO upon separation. I believe IL requires payout. Am I correct in that and if so which states rules apply?

My boss is trying to delay giving me the bonus we agreed upon in May.

TL:DR In Spring, boss agreed to give me a large bonus in late summer rather than giving a salary increase. Now is using delay tactics to not pay out. This Spring I had a discussion with my boss and our office manager present about getting a raise. I had been working at the office for over 2 years and never had an official review or bump in salary but I have excelled in my position, and it was acknowledged by my boss. Instead of giving a salary increase, my boss suggested giving me the money as a lump sum bonus at the end of summer. He said, “it'll be better, that way you get all the money at once.” I recently discussed w/the office manager getting my lump sum bonus paid out, just for her to tell me the boss wants to wait a little bit until one case I've…

Why are they making me wait months for a job name change?

I got approved for a title change. My boss acknowledged I’ve been a great employee. But in the meeting I was basically told even though I(me) does most of the work in our department. They can’t do anything for me. I didn’t ask for a raise, just a role change and for some of my load to be taken off. Well I asked for a title change cause my responsibilities outweigh my title and my boss agreed, plus I want it for my resume. I was asked if I could wait a few months and idk why. I know someone else here who got a title change and it took them a week. Is it cause they are afraid il apply to other jobs with my new title?
