I Quit the “Right” Way
I put my two weeks notice in at my old job where I was being sexually harassed with a new job lined up ready to go. I get to new job and find out they expect you to work for free 30-45 minutes of the day. I don't work for free. I quit that job, sold my car because now I cannot make payments and am being told to work at chik fil a. Now, there's nothing wrong with working there but I was sexually assaulted at my serving job that I had when I was a teenager and don't want to work in that industry. I have a college degree and 5 years of relevant experience. I am a damn hard worker to a fault. I have been working since I was 16. I am completely broke, jobless, and carless. It'll end up fine but fuck me. Why is…
For context purposes, I accidentally bumped into another employee's person vehicle with the work truck I was given. Prior to this, I put in a 2 weeks notice and just today when I got to work, my boss asked me if I have the situation taken care of with the other individual. I asked him why can't insurance take care of it. He told me that insurance may consider it totaled at that point and that they don't want to use company insurance since it would make their insurance a lot more expensive. After me showing disapproval about it, he sighed and said, “I don't know how I'm gonna take care of it then.” Know your rights people and especially young people, DO NOT LET OTHER PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IGNORANCE!
Note that these things are like $3 max
I’ve been with this company for over a year now. I even helped the department manager run our department while we were short staffed. A couple months ago we got someone new. I trained her on how things run alongside my manager. Even with all that, she still makes plenty of mistakes, sometimes even daily. I get no one is perfect, I make mistakes too; but the amount she makes is astronomical. The assistant manager position opens up, and I decided I want to go for it. The new hire does as well. After a month of “testing and training” for the both of us, she ends up getting it. The store managers reasoning? “She has past experience and you don’t” Fuck my life and fuck this company
Seriously, am I the only one who’s fed up with the constant narrative that you should be financially stable and independent by the time you hit your thirties? It's like there's this societal pressure cooker that tells us if we haven't “made it” by then, we’re somehow failing at life. Let’s break this down, shall we? I/Unrealistic Expectations First off, the idea that everyone should be financially stable in their thirties is incredibly unrealistic. For many, the early years of their careers are spent paying off student loans, dealing with skyrocketing rent prices, or even struggling to find a decent-paying job in their field. The economic landscape has changed dramatically over the past few decades, yet the expectations haven’t caught up. II/Student Loans and Debt Let’s talk about student loans. The average student debt in the United States has reached astronomical levels. How on earth is someone supposed to pay…
What kind of fortune is this?
I have a new boss, after having the same one for almost 10 years. My boss's boss mentioned that I'll be issued a company mobile phone soon. I've never had one before. I've learned my lesson at other companies to not use my personal phone for work – I need to actively separate personal life and work life. Out of the few thousand people at my current company, only a small handful of people have my personal number. And those are people I hang out with outside of work. This is a very recent discovery, so I'm trying to figure out a way to discretely force them to decide it was a mistake. I have a suspicion my new boss is a sneaky micro-manager, which is a huge problem imo. I need to keep busy at work, by personal preference. Meaning, I'm almost always working to make progress for the…
