I no longer work there but something just occurred to me and I’m curious how others take it. I worked in a small non profit that brought on a new CEO a few years back. We’d always had casual Friday as an option (wear jeans etc) but then we started being told the only way to earn casual Friday was if we made a recurring donation to the local United Way chapter, which also happened to be the last place my new CEO had worked. The donation could be small, like $2 per paycheck. But that adds up over the year. The whole thing felt weird, but we were told it looked good if we could say 100% of our staff had donated. Has anyone else experienced something like this at their company? Being “encouraged” to donate to an organization linked to leadership?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aiDyWSXBwE Private equity is buying up insurance and increasing insurance so much it's the ultimate subscription model (on top of denying claims), they are also planting their own people on HOAs to increase the monthly so much it's a second mortgage. With one time assessment fees of sometimes 225,000 on top of 3000 monthly HOAs. Even if you own the place you don't. You'll be working forever or have your retirement drained. This is the future they're making. Work forever and pay a high subscription fee to literally live in your own home that you own
Fuck TikTok
So, for over 2 years I've worked for TikTok USDS. I quit back in June due to my manager trying to be up my ass once they demanded RTO, plus my last raise was $0.73 making my hourly wage $20.73. Add insult to injury this company was trying to force me to pay for the return their laptop. Included is the email that made their IT department figure it out (I think I got the response from someone on here) followed by a “thank you” for working and quitting. ETA: I’m stoned so I forgot My hourly rate was actually $21.73. I forgot about the $1 for being there a year. I did manage to be enough of a bot to also make like $8k in bonuses. So please don’t feel too bad for me. Edited for somewhat better spelling.
Several weeks ago i was in a car accident where i sustained injuries (nothing major). While ortho was doing MRIs on my neck and back, they found herniated discs but they also found several (about 4-7) tumors on my spine. All varying in size with the largest being the size of a penny. They are comprising my nerves that causes me to get numbness, weakness and tingling in parts of my body along with uncontrolled spasms. Doctor said given the location of the tumors, its too risky for me to continue working since i do manual work that requires heavy lifting…etc and one mishap can leave me paralyzed from the neck down. We've been doing many tests to determine if its benign or malignant but doctors says it looks cancerous. (Since it appears its been slowly spreading, given the fact theres multiple.) I cant take FMLA just yet until we…
My former boss is screwed
So my last two weeks are up and my boss is about to lose over $7k in profit this week alone just because I’m not there. I asked for a $1 raise which would have cost him atmost $2.5k for the next year because I was the only thing keeping his business together and he said no. I’m the only one who kept track of everything or knows where everything is. After my last day, he had the audacity to start asking me for stuff. He didn’t want me to train a replacement so there is no one who even knows all of the stuff that I was doing. All of this was avoidable too but now I get to watch things crash and burn from a far. I put up with sexual harasment and have been called slurs at this job way too many times and the best part…
Employers are seeing crazy expectations
I don't pull any punches with employers on indeed. It's like they don't even realize how short their offer is. $50k to live at work isn't even CLOSE to worth it
We are now ON STRIKE.
I work for a GM supplier, our employer gave us an offer that was, quite frankly, an insult. We walked.
