Month: August 2024
I just quit my job this morning!
I worked a production job for low pay since last October, wasn’t trained to do it properly so I had to teach and learn myself. I was doing the work of 2 people with a triple increase in the amount of product demanded since I started. It took them till May to hire me on as fulltime, and only gave me a $1 raise with shift times that were constantly being changed without anybody telling me. OSHA violations were everwhere, no ear plugs or eye pro anywhere. The stress from work actually made me have a panic attack last month, and it made me realize how much I don’t need that in my life. When I quit the manager was offended even though I apologized for doing it so suddenly. Probably because they don’t hire anybody. Now I have a Union job lined up. I feel like a weight has…
So, currently I am in an odd situation. Unfortunately I have had to care for my mother with Alzheimers for the last six years in a foreign country (Portugal) after finally getting her into a care facility I am concerned about my large job gap. I had planned to finish an SNHU degree for psychology, but I guess my real question is, would that be beneficial in any way considering the large job gap beforehand which will likely be 8 years by the time that degree is completed? I plan on returning to the US (Dual Citizen) Is it better to go straight back into the workforce (or try to) or will the Psychology Degree accomplishment show drive to any potential employers? Many thanks

Hi everyone! Thought I'd talk about something that went wrong and how when a business treats their employees with respect, humanity and care, alot of the time, employees are more than happy to work things through rather than have to fight and stop the company playing games with them. I recently started a new job at a pet store, and the company is just amazing. Full transparency, incredibly kind, humble managers and regionals. Never pressured to overwork, have incredible training (for once) and the working environment is calm and nice. Recently, there was an issue with getting my pay to me at the end of the month because of a miscommunication between managers about sending some documents off. So I won't be paid this month, it'll be the following month. I get an email today from my manager, apologising and telling me she really cares. If I cannot get through…
If you dont micromanage and maximise your free time – you have bascially now life. Sit down and relax after work – sure you can do that. But in that half an hour you could have done 100 different things and this half an hour is missing from your schedule. Work bascially forces us to maximise our free time and I hate it. Eating healthy? Well better make a detailed plan to the last sub atomic nutrient unit in order to be able to cook it and when to consume it. Like reading? Well if you want to read more than like 20 books in a year – you better plan exact time slots when you can/should read and you have to stick to them. Going to the gym? Has to be minutely planned and squeezed between all your other activities if you want to have any time left besides…
