How would we accomplish that?
Month: September 2024
For some context, I live in Washington State and work as a delivery driver for a major pizza chain. We used to be compensated at 2.00 per delivery, which got changed to 40 cents per mile, which was then reduced to 30 cents per mile at some point. The first change was announced, but the second was not. I don’t even know how long it’s been that low, because I didn’t even notice until tonight when talking with another coworker. I’m so tired of these greedy fucks fucking with our money and not even having the common decency to tell us. I’m on my way out of that shit-hole anyway, but definitely want to file a complain if this is in violation of the law. Maybe I’m entitled to some sort of compensation, but even if not I still want them to be held accountable. Anyone happen to know if…
Getting real tired of being a grunt
Just had to say this somewhere. Anywhere really, but I thought that here was most appropriate. There is a lot I can say, whole stories of frustrations, but it all boils down to me simply being tired of being underneath someone's boot.

Remember that one guy in the office who’s always over the top—first in, last out, and treating every project like it’s a life-or-death mission? Yeah, that was me. I was the Dwight Schrute of my workplace: hyper-motivated, always hustling, always pushing the boundaries. I had my own version of “Assistant to the Regional Manager” vibes, minus the beet farm. But here’s where things took a turn. After years of giving it everything I had—pumping out creative solutions, mastering new skills, and basically living at my desk—I noticed something. While I was busy being a try-hard, promotions were handed out like candy… to everyone except me. Apparently, getting a gold star doesn’t mean you get to level up. It didn’t happen overnight, but bit by bit, all that drive started to wear thin. The endless cycle of “you’re doing great, but…” got old real fast. Every time I thought I was…
We need to stop believing that ethics in business are the same as ethics in your personal life. Executives do not treat it that way – neither should you. If you are getting interviews but never call-backs, it might be because you are telling the truth, and everyone else is lying. If you are lying because you are afraid of getting caught, there are ways around the background check. But if you are lying because you think it's moral – this article shows evidence of how often recruiters lie during interviews, and why it's perfectly acceptable (even expected) for you to do the same. Look out for your own self-interest people, and stop worrying about what people say is “moral”. ~https://backgroundproof.com/its-time-for-us-to-stop-treating-ethics-in-employment-the-same-as-ethics-in-your-personal-relationships/~
Should I give more than 2 weeks notice?
Should I give more than 2 weeks notice? I currently work an office role as an Admin Assistant at a non-profit. I’ve been there nearly 14 months, and it’s been in some ways great, in some ways really terrible. I need a break from work, I’m going to take some time off, travel, and work on personal and professional development. I plan to quit this upcoming Thursday or Wednesday, my boss comes back from a 2 week vacation this Tuesday. My main question is – do I give more than a 2 week notice? I’ve thought about maybe giving three, the most I could possibly do is a month. What do you think I should do? Standard 2, or a little more?
