How is the cost of living able to keep going up if wages are stagnating and not improving at all or not improving in any significant way?

I tried asking my parents this and they couldn’t answer it lol. So let me know what the reasons for this are.

What is your worst colleague like?

I’m really fed up with my colleague who throws a tantrum and gets really rude whenever he does something wrong and someone points it out (mind you, points it out in a really non-confrontational manner). We work in groups with clients and the overall culture is that we help each other, discuss things and provide feedback to one another. It’s just him. So, who’s your worst colleague at the moment?

27M Realistic Retirement Plan that I created (an optimistic future):

Recently I’ve been considering the idea that society will not outlast my goals. My personal opinions of wealth is that it resides in recourse and not within currency. It’s my strong belief that everyone deserves food, shelter, and water. Money should be used to fund personal ventures and goals. We live in a first world country, we should act like it. Below is a step by step plan on how I plan to retire and put this belief into action. 1. Maintain Employment for Initial Funding In the immediate term, continue working a traditional job to secure necessary funds for the subsequent stages of the plan. While this step may seem less than ideal, it provides the financial foundation required for long-term sustainability.* 2. Implement a Rigorous Savings Strategy Develop and adhere to a stringent budget. Allocate every possible dollar toward a dedicated savings account earmarked for retirement.* This disciplined…

Former boss’s company collapse, the lies caught up.

A new revelation came to light regarding my former employer. My boss was the company owner of a garage storage and closet renovation business. We were highly successful, built a brand of trust and over 80 5 star Google reviews. He pissed all the money away. He chased the “rich” lifestyle. Golf outings, rubbing elbows with the richest people he could, taking out expensive radio ads to brag, tried to open up new business with no game plan 'hoping' it would work out. He spent the money as fast as it came in, and as a result was expecting me (a salary employee) to work 6 days a week to keep the company going. I wasn't having that and left in October. I now find out that he's a raging alcoholic, substance abuser, a wife beater, a habitual liar, and a pretender. The last lie that caught up to him:…

Conflicted on giving notice

I just received a job offer and I have decided to take it. However, I just had my anniversary at my current job and it doesn't look like they will pay out my vacation time, due to the state we live in not requiring a payout on unused vacation time as well as not seeing anything about how this would be handled in my employee handbook…my partner wants me to take a two week vacation next week (claim family emergency or something), quit no notice and start my new job. I'm conflicted on this but the company I currently work for is known for firing people after they give notice. I also want my vacation time as I have busted my ass at this job for weak pay and little appreciation. Just wanted to see if anyone had any advice. 🙂 UPDATE: after looking at the handbook for half an…

Advice on jobs for anxious people?

For some context I was working at a Michelin star restaurant in Santa Barbara as a server and would work usually 4-6 shifts a week and made a really great income. The downside was that with how intense the job was and how much of a perfectionist you had to be there I ended up with a lot of work anxiety there. I ended up having to quite because I herniated a disc in my lower back and had a frozen shoulder (repeated stress at the job aggravated old injuries). I’m now trying to look for something I can maybe do remotely well I’m in college to take a bit of a mental break and heal myself – any advice on jobs / where to look? I’m a designer as well and run my own media company and my dream is to have that be my sole income but I…

Sounds like a welcoming company

Some reasonable requests, but just based off this alone it’s probably a fucking terrible place to work.

Made redundant from my job and have been unemployed for close to 4 months. Finally got a job only to find out its the same job being run by a different company

I don't know how to feel about this, when I was working at my old job some employees were using water trucks and loaders on an empty plot of land but I didn't think much of it. A construction company has now taken over that land to get it ready for housing and have hired me to do the exact same job I was doing before with extra responsibilities and less pay. It just feels so demotivating like I'm not making any progress no matter how much effort I put in. Any one else experienced something like this?

How to deal with guilt possibly leaving a job

I have a boss that makes my face red and my chest feeling tight. I’ve only been here for ~3 weeks, and it’s like the person who interviewed me to now has just done a 180. I’ve never ever dealt with someone like this before🥲 and I don’t think I can handle this much stress. I have an interview coming up this week. I applied to the job back in June, and I thought I was ghosted. They reached out to me last week for a virtual interview. I’m taking the interview during my lunch break, and still feeling really ~nervous~ about it. There is a possibility that I will have to do a second round of interviews in person. I will feel better if I have a game plan structured out. Step 1 – virtual interview If I have to do the in person interview I’m not sure how…
