Recently I’ve been considering the idea that society will not outlast my goals. My personal opinions of wealth is that it resides in recourse and not within currency. It’s my strong belief that everyone deserves food, shelter, and water. Money should be used to fund personal ventures and goals. We live in a first world country, we should act like it. Below is a step by step plan on how I plan to retire and put this belief into action.
1. Maintain Employment for Initial Funding
In the immediate term, continue working a traditional job to secure necessary funds for the subsequent stages of the plan.
While this step may seem less than ideal, it provides the financial foundation required for long-term sustainability.*
2. Implement a Rigorous Savings Strategy
Develop and adhere to a stringent budget. Allocate every possible dollar toward a dedicated savings account earmarked for retirement.*
This disciplined approach should be maintained consistently over the next several years.
3. Acquire Knowledge in Earthship Construction
Begin intensive research on Earthship building—a critical component of this plan.
*Consider collaborating with friends or like-minded individuals who might share an interest in this sustainable living model.
4. Purchase Suitable Land
Identify and acquire a parcel of land that aligns with your long-term goals and requirements.
Consider factors such as climate, accessibility, and local regulations.
5. Construct the Earthship
Utilize your knowledge and resources to build the Earthship. This eco-friendly, self-sustaining home is more affordable than traditional housing and essential for reducing future living costs.
6. Transition to Part-Time Work and Enjoy Retirement
Once the Earthship is complete, shift to part-time employment to cover any additional expenses.
