Some of you have gotten where you are by being job focused and detailed oriented.
I’m glad that you were able to do that. I’m glad that you had the skill, time and opportunity to achieve what you have been able to achieve.
Congratulations on your position. I mean that genuinely.
You have an ability that’s unique. Not everyone is able to do that. Not everyone wants to do that. Doesn’t mean their worse or better. Just different priorities, ways of processing and skill.
I however can do that. I want to do that and I’ve proven myself to be good at doing that. But…
I have a disability. Sometimes I sound different or ask the same question twice. Sometimes I can’t function without a 3 minute breather after a rush hour. And my 30 minutes lunches are actually more like 10 to 15 because my service dog also needs a break to potty and relax.
There are people in this world who want to achieve what you have achieved, and are quite capable of doing so. We just look different, require different, maybe sound different. But we’re more than capable of the same.
Please treat people with disabilities like human equity, equality and kindness. Constantly having to fight is exhausting and triggering.
