My boss has done right by me

I've followed this subreddit in some form since its inception and I've had bosses across most of the spectrum in my time in the work force. I know this sub can have a lot of hate so I'll give some good back to help those of us who need to see there can be some good out there. To start with the bad I've seen in my life: I've had a boss who wouldn't let me leave to go see a doctor because I hurt my foot on shift and was unable to stand, even though I was bartending. I've had employers ask, “What the hell is wrong with you?” when I was emotionally distraught from my father passing away. I've also had employers who just didn't care but also left me alone.

I've finally found an employer who gives a damn about their people.

I started work recently in a brand new field. I am a military veteran college student currently so my schedule is odd and I'm not willing to sacrifice my time in college for work, this has been a problem in the past but not now. In the three weeks I've worked for my current employ I've been started at a higher starting wage (over double minimum for what would be considered a minimum wage job for some employers), told I will be receiving a wage because the work I've put in is recognized, consistently told they enjoy having me as an employee, have been given the days off I have needed; no questions asked, and have spoken with my GM and gotten to know him, and he I, because he respects his employees who show up and do the work.

This is the first job I actually feel seen and respected. I asked for 4 days off this weekend because I have a friend coming to town to visit and my boss pulled me aside to ensure they had the correct days off. There was no fuss or questions or arguments. They only wanted to ensure I got the days I needed.

To the good bosses out there: Thank you. You make your employees want to come to work. This is the first job I've ever had where I didn't dread coming into work. This is the first job where I don't have anxiety just seeing my managers, which says a lot because I have a social anxiety disorder. I know I won't stay here forever because it's not what I want from my life but I truly wish I could have my current management team for the rest of my life. What an amazing experience. I hope you all find people as good as I have recently.
