Unreasonable PIP, need advice

Hey all, I have been out on a performance plan and the terms to be in good standing are atrocious. I am being asked to complete three tasks in a month (tasks that take even more experienced members a month EACH to do). On top of that, they told me this knowing I will be out for holidays, meaning I will not even have the full month to reach this goal. I would like to keep the job at least until January since I am on visa and if I get laid off during the holiday period when I am in India, that’s a nail in the coffin for me being able to come back to the country. I am also considering asking for FMLA, I have almost been hospitalized twice from the stress and suicidal ideation this job has lead to, which will pause the clock on the PIP…

I am also considering asking for FMLA, I have almost been hospitalized twice from the stress and suicidal ideation this job has lead to, which will pause the clock on the PIP to pause at least. I need to talk to hr or manager to begin this though, which I am afraid they might just terminate if they hear my intention to ask for this which brings me back to problem #1.

Any tips on how to go about asking for the pip to be made more actionable/realistic? I am losing sleep on this. I might have to not go home which is unfortunate as my father is terminally ill and this may be my last chance to see him.

Edit: on work visa, can’t just quit unfortunately
