Don’t bother taking up for an employee

I had an issue of a lost piece of my car at a garage and called the place only to be told it wasn’t there by the manager. I went to the place only to get the same dismissive treatment from the manager, but once the employee showed up with what I was looking for the manager was going to have a conversation with the employee. TBF it was the employee’s fault initially, but she actually helped me. I didn’t like how I was treated by the manager, nor did I like how she treated the employee. I wrote an email only to be told by the district manager that I don’t know the whole story.
