How my company handles people being sick. (Be prepared to be blown away)

So I work for a manufacturing company where our HR department rolled out a new absenteeism policy. In short if you miss 5% of your scheduled shifts in a rolling 3 month period you are placed on a program where you meet with an HR representative monthly to discuss your “Progress” with regards to your attendance for an entire year. We work shift work so the 5% works out to 2.6 days in 3 months keep in mind my employer does not have paid sick days. On top of all of this if I call in sick (we call in through a security company that forwards the information to our supervisor where I am required to provide an explanation as to why I can’t come to work) within an hour of calling in I am called by a manager where they harass you saying “are you sure you can’t come in?” And if you don’t pick up the phone call or call in 2 hours prior to shift start (I start at 5am) you will be disciplined by HR.

Just a rant I had to go on, the HR meetings are so aggravating and I just finished one.
