Pretty sure this is illegal…

I work at a call center in IL and we are not paid hourly, but “hourly as we are logged into our call-taking software”. Meaning, everytime we leave our desk (to get a drink, go to the bathroom, all breaks) are unpaid. So I'm scheduled for 9 hrs a day for 5 days a week, but I'm only paid for 7.5 hrs. Pretty sure this is illegal in my state and I reported them to the labor dept. They said they would reply in 10 business days at most but idk how that would work with the holidays. Wish me luck and generous backpay.
