Throwaway for reasons
Tldr: Took higher paying job. Using up benefits before I left. Bosses upset and denying days so I left early
Background:Work management in construction. First manager was difficult to work with and ended up being moved off the project. New manager was just promoted and never managed anyone before. I also work hybrid with 2 days from home and 3 in the office/field
Long story shorted: New manager was promoted twice in six months after taking over work when other people left the project. I was denied a merit based raise after doing the same thing. Other people in the company were also getting promoted with less time in the company. I updated my resume again and decided the next recruiter to reach out I would talk to.
In the meantime my manager was annoyed with me taking sick time. Even started setting up meetings every time I was out to “check in on me” I expressed annoyance as I was following state and company policy when taking off time. Even spike with HR and they confirmed I was taking time off within policy
Finally received another job offer for 100k and signing bonus if I started in the next two months. I did want to finish out the project I was on to get my COLA raise and bonus but my boss was becoming increasingly hostile . I started using up PTO that wouldn't get paid out when I left and that really set off my boss. In fact when I tried to use personal holidays they were denied if I didn't finish every single task (even if they weren't due yet) . They even suggested i take MLK and Juneteenth and asked if I practiced a religion (adked for the international Holocost remembrance day off). This pissed me off emailed my resignation for the next Friday. Yesterday was my last in office day and my boss didn't say a word to me. I reset all my devices left them on my desk. Went to eat lunch with. Coworker and didn't come back.
I know I didn't do anything wrong but I still feel terrible. I did not want it to end this way and I feel like now my coworkers will get shafted bc of it.
I've taken so much out so you all dont have a mountain of text but basically fuck these jobs
