I don't know if I'm just lucky but I have found that the more I do the 'wrong' thing, the better I do in the world of work.
In roles where I've been super keen for no extra reward, I've only ever gotten promises of better outcomes and more donkey work.
Since I stopped giving a f, and showing I'm fairly disinterested in doing more, or even my current duties unless I'm paid more, slacking off and even quitting, I get offered promotions, pay rises, bonuses, and less 'hard work' is expected of me while I am given higher level responsibilities and people to manage.
I'm now at a point where I could care so little, I am frequently late, demanding, and set my own terms without apology, and the bosses now treat me with even more respect and bring me even closer into the inner workings.
Has anyone else found doing less and caring less got you more?
I think it's something to do with them recognising value only when you show you have no interest in being a good donkey with lower value.
