I’ve been lurking on this sub for a while. I see lots of hourly and salaried workers but I never see anyone that works off commission.
Im so frustrated because I get paid hourly plus tips. I don’t make a lot and I know the owner of the company I work for make bank. We aren’t paid a living wage. My coworkers and even my store manager complain they’re always broke. We got one raise in 2021 and that’s the only raise we’re able to receive until next year.
I love this company and I want to stick it out but I don’t have the opportunity to move up in the company. I’m just stuck. I don’t have consistent clientele. And during the summer months I barely get any clients. The hourly is the only thing keeping me afloat and it’s not much. I don’t have the clientele to go out on my own. I have 2 kids and I can’t afford to make anything less than what I have.
I feel so stuck. Im trying to make more but it’s not working. I’ve hit a wall. Im trying to be patient but I feel like I’ve made a mistake with this career that I’ve chosen.
