management duties without pay.

The back story..I work as a mechanic/service tech for a utility vehicle rental company. I maintain a fleet of 800+/- vehicles. Since day one I have had issues and difficulties getting replacement parts due to internal management issues, this obviously slows down productivity, But it's been an ongoing issue and is my primary limiting factor in doing my job but… I just deal with it. I found out that at the end of the month, in order to “take things off my plate” they are moving another tech to the rental dept to help me out and are hiring a yard/lot guy to organize the yard and do other small things so I don't have to so I can focus on repairing and maintaining the fleet. Wasn't hired as one.. so what the hell??. I don't really know how to handle this. If I'm acting as manager shouldn't I be paid for it? Could use some friendly advice. Thanks.
