Hey all, I am wondering what the law is regarding my current situation. The Head of HR for the parent company of my company sent an email to everyone in my company stating “Every employee who works for ____ will be receiving a bonus.” This is an exact quote. There is no mention of any qualifier. I excitedly told my manager about it and if he saw the email. My manager informed me that I will not be receiving my bonus since I have only been with the company for 10 months. Does the verbiage in the email matter at all? I accepted this job largely in part to the bonus I was offered that is in my employment contract. It does not state anywhere that I must work for a certain time before receiving. The bonus would be well in the 5 figures or else I wouldn't make a big deal about it.
