I’ve been at my current job for 2 years and I’ve been busting my ass to learn as much as I can! I average 50-55 hour work weeks and I have the highest metrics every week (no exaggeration). I am an operations 1 employee which is at the bottom but for the last year I’ve been doing operations 2 work which is the next role up. I am very good at my job and am a big source of help to the other employees. I was denied a promotion in September 2022 because I do my job too well and they didn’t have someone to replace me…The next promotion round is now, February and I’m finally getting promoted to operations 2, but with much less pay than the two operations 2 employees. I would like to add that I also helped trained the other two operations 2 employees when they got promoted, like I said I’ve been doing ops2 work for a year now. I am included in the manager meetings and I train the new employees even though technically on paper I am on the same level as the new employees (ops 1). I also have override permissions to override our systems for those tricky situations.
The other two ops2 employees make 58k a year and they are getting their annual 3% raise in March. Today I was told I was getting promoted to Ops2 with a salary of 52k… I was told it was due to the economy and the company trying to save money to be profitable which I think is all bs. I requested they reconsider and even gave them a break down of how it would take me 4 additional years with a annual 3% raise to get to 58k even though I’m already doing the same work and in some cases more than the other Ops2. I am currently waiting to hear their reply, but I am not optimistic it will be good news.
So, I’m wondering if I should decline my promotion and continue to just do Ops 1 work. I should add I work from home and I am very good at my job, I can do my Ops1 work with half a brain cell and we have a ton of work we can almost always do overtime which is paid at X1.5. My currently salary as ops 1 is $47,500. As Ops1 I would have so much less responsibility and I would forfeit my Ops2 responsibilities which I’ve been doing for the last year but cause more stress. The major downside though if I decline the promotion is that I won’t grow in this field like I planned to. I will be stuck in Ops1.
