Many of these are still standing solid today. With inflation, it would put this house at like $40-45k. I am in the building design and construction industry, and you couldn't build this house today for less than $350k (probably a lot more depending on location). Average annual wage for one person in 1916 was about $990. Granted, you have significantly better windows, insulation, and MEP systems, etc. today, but even factoring that in it is still not even close. And that doesn't even consider the average annual salary.
