How Successful Would High School Dropouts Be Today?

I listen to a personal finance podcast and there have been several people that have come on that introduce themselves as high school dropouts or college dropouts. They continue to lay out their stories of finding somewhat obscure gigs in selling and/or flipping real estate among other things and soon find 'financial success' through that. Using financial independence as a measure of success: Is it more likely for a high school dropout to be successful today or in past generations? Is it all just based on grit and motivation to succeed regardless of the time period? Are individuals of certain demographics more likely to achieve financial success after dropping out of high school? i.e. gender, ethnicity, socio-economic status, etc. Interested to hear your thoughts. Hopefully the post doesn't get removed. I think it's an important conversation because a lot of millennials and younger generations are increasingly interested in finding success…
