Several years ago I was brought into a small company to start up and manage a program for them. Pay was modest, benefits were okay, but management acted like they were god’s gift to this earth. I stayed for several years and was micromanaged into oblivion the whole time, with no title bump or development opportunities.
I recently found a new job with better pay, benefits, and culture. I left with more than enough notice (three weeks to be nice, was confident they wouldn’t dismiss me on the spot), and left very detailed notes. Apparently, even though I was micromanaged for several years no one ever took the time to learn what I did or how I did it. The emails to my personal email with questions started about two weeks after I left.
I didn’t have a huge issue with this and was happy to answer my direct manager, but apparently I opened the floodgates. My manager just emailed me a spreadsheet with another question, and directions to go into the spreadsheet and complete a task because she can’t figure it out.
The audacity is astounding and I’m considering not even responding. The icing on the cake is that the spreadsheet she sent me to my personal email contains sensitive client info. I thought this sub might appreciate the story, I’m currently too stunned to speak and have been staring at the email for about 10 minutes.
