I know a lot of us are frustrated and feel hopeless about our current living and working situations. Capitalism is crushing us. But without a doubt, we have power in numbers and solidarity. This is why they fight to divide us, misinform us, and make sure we're too tired and complacent.
When I read posts from 12 years ago of people suffering from the same things, or decades before, I become so frustrated and start to think “there's no way”. I am wrong. You are wrong.
This is exactly what they want. A nation that quits on themselves and slaves away for them. Even with our protests, they have much more capital to put laws into place by the time we say any small fruits of our efforts.
We need to strike at large. I think with enough people, a 3 day or 5 day strike would be effective. It's not realistic to have the entire country strike, but what if our major cities join together, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles etc? People of this subreddit can work in their communities to join us together. We do have the internet as a great resource.
I do not have experience planning a strike, but I am tired of sitting around and watching all of us suffer when we can just…come together and sit out.
It could even be a Great Call Off where we're not in the streets striking, but we stay home instead of going to work and use social media to let out our protest. Posting evidence backed data and personal experiences etc. This would also make sure counter protesters don't distract from our movement or the chance of looting happening or whatever. It will be safe.
The more of us who strike across the nation for each other, as one, the better. Teachers, Garbage men, cashiers, tech, animal care workers, groceries–we need to affect them all.
So what do you say? Who had experience in organizing something like this? If you don't think this could work, please add why and what could make this plan better. We need solutions, we need to strategize.
Another note: maybe instead of major cities, we should focus on major industries striking in solidarity along with everyone else
