I used to work on a theater. It was my first job. The boss was an old boomer dude, who would constantly curse out my coworkers, who were all teens by the way. He would overwork us and treat us nice whenever he was in the mood. He would throw constant tantrums over small simple mistakes and treated everyone (including managers) like shit. We were short staffed, thanks to the pandemic. There was only four managers and about thirty employees. The majority still went to school. They were teens. He overworked them to hell. A team lead, who was only 17 was overworked 10 hours. He had school the next day and also was told to work later in the afternoon. He did that to many other coworkers. He would also forbid and scold us for speaking about pay. He didn’t like it when we spoke about our wages, because we all got paid differently.
His favorite coworkers (bootlickers) got paid more than the average employee.
He also said we would lose money if we worked overtime. Not gain more.
He would fire anyone who did a simple slip up, and not fire individuals who needed to be removed immediately. Such as racist and lazy people.
The team lead, a minor, had to do that for him. It was ridiculous.
The managers were our saviors. They kept the building from falling, and dealt with his bullshit too. There was one manager in particular who basically did everything for the boss. He basically ran the building. Yeah… the boss was a useless scum bag. There was one manager we didn’t like though, just because she never did her job or was ever present on the floor when needed. Apparently, the boss hired her because she memorized his taco bell order back in her old job.
He also rehired some ignorant and very narcissistic boomer who tried to run for mayor in my city. He failed miserably due to his very questionable techniques… such as wearing Jewish stars, just how the nazis did to mark Jews back in WWII. He claims they cheated him, and is convinced he actually won the vote.
So yeah…
Me and this boss didn’t get along too well. Nobody liked him and nobody wanted to be around him.
In my frustration and anger, I wrote a review, explaining how bad the situation was in the theater. I only criticized the theater and its staff, mainly the boss. The boss didn’t know I wrote the review. I took it down a day later so I didn’t think much of it afterwards. But it did cause a stir amongst my fellow coworkers. They all theorized and tried to connect the dots, to find out who really wrote the review. I played along and nobody suspected a thing.
I eventually quit and leave. I tell them all a month later it was me. Now I’m trying to reapply, but he apparently found it was me who wrote that email. So he won’t hire me for speaking my mind and writing down a review.
Hilarious.
