I need somewhere to vent because I feel like I’m losing my mind
I want to start with I’m in the US in a state that offers decent state subsidized health insurance but it’s still kind of pricey depending on your wages.
I manage the kitchen in a restaurant with plans of expanding to a second location. My role then would be to manage the kitchen in both locations.
At the beginning of my job my partner and I split so I needed to move. The owners (a married couple) of the restaurant were nice enough to rent me an apartment in a building they own for a slight discount but I still pay $2,000 a month.
Before the apartment I was given $250 a month for health insurance stipend which the husband of the couple said we renegotiated I would not receive the stipend anymore because of the apartment which I swear never actually happened.
I brought up how I couldn’t afford the payments of $300 a month and that I’d
like to receive some compensation for my insurance again and they essentially said they never planned on giving me insurance assistance now or in the future as long as I rent from them and that they would be paying me enough to pay for it. The last part wasn’t clear to me if me renting from them was contingent with not receiving the stipend.
