Tl;dr: I have excellent selective memory but that which I can't remember punishes me in interviews. Help.
As the title says, inhuman. I hate it.
I am a person that has difficulty retaining information if I can't immediately put it into action or unless something significant engraves it into memory.
For instance, my Udemy library is full of courses of things I am interested in. Many of the course are designed to help pass technical certification tests. No matter how many times I watch a course none of it sticks unless I can use it. So the portion of these courses that I can put into practice I learn easily but no matter what I try I can't learn anything I have no immediate use for.
This is hurting me in interviews because it makes me seems like I don't know what I am talking about, which to be fair, is both accurate and inaccurate. The moment I have to use it, if I have previously leanered about it, I can remember it. Sometimes it takes looking for the description online but from then on, I have it.
Does anyone else experience this and how do you overcome it? 🤔
The job search doesn't seem to work for people like me but I also don't qualify for disability or anything like that which would allow me to just not work
