Boss only wants to call, not email. Suspicious?

So. I’ve taken redundancy, I have asked for updates regarding my finish date amongst other information I need to seek further employment. However they have not communicated such with me in nearly 4 weeks other than “we’ll get back to you asap” to which I sent a follow up email today asking for the same things. Instead of an email back with the corresponding information, I get a voicemail saying they have read my email and to call me back. I text them saying I cannot talk and would like information to be in writing, they persist in me calling them. I repeat, that I would like everything in writing. What can be said in a call that can’t be said in an email? Within the time of this ridiculous exchange, they could have provided me the appropriate information I asked for 4 weeks ago. I wanted everything in writing…

This is all very suspicious to me.
